I see the resume reviews up here a lot and people usually get some really good feedback. I wonder if people here would be open to sharing their LinkedIn profiles for feedback? I'll start with mine: Carl Saiyed | LinkedIn

    EDIT:

I keep getting the following message for most peoples: "Full profiles for 3rd-degree connections are available only to premium account holders." Is anyone else getting this?

So if I send you a request, its so I can check out your profiles, I am curious to see how mine sizes up to you lot :)

ok, I took a look at each of these and here's what I wrote down.

Your picture is good and the snapshot at the top of your work is also good. I'm not sure what SAP is so I can't immediately tell what your education is but I am sure a lot of people probably can.

Your 'current training' for Cisco CCNA training doesn't make sense to me. You say "Cisco CCNA Training --> Cisco Certified Network Associate" but I don't see it listed in your certs. Are you training for this now? How? I admin I did not read your entire overview as I was somewhat in a hurry and looking for the 'meat and potatoes'

    Work exp:
Level 3 - the job description doesn't tell me much about what you do except that you listen for for alarms. I'd like to see more about what Senior duties you fill

Technical Tutor - Description is good

Geek Squad - tell me what you did here (I can guess but something would be nice)

Leaderquest student - I like the first part about how you did your CompTIA trio in six weeks. YOu go on to say that you are currently completing requirements for MCITP Win7 but it feels like this is attached to 2012 so I wonder if this is off the radar or something you have been working on for 2 years.

WOW a lot of detail about a lot of positions in the USAF. I might try to consolidate these a bit if they aren't relevant to your IT goals now.

Courses - WOW a lot here too.

Overall: Lots of detail on the USAF stuff but could use more on the current IT stuff.

Can't see your full profile. Picture looks to be taken at a game store?

Picture and snapshot information are good.

Summary feels like a quick list. Hard to tell what your level of experience with these technologies is.

    work exp:
Lots of jobs, but no detail about what you did at any of them beyond inference of your title.

    certs:
impressive list, helps define where other sections were lacking. Would like to see dates for relative gauging of how long you've been with a technology and if your certs are current.

Nice to see you wrote a recommendation for someone else. Writing style means a lot and yours is decent.

Overall: hard to tell HOW you can help solve a problem but your certifications are a pretty good tip.

    wgroom:
Picture is decent, snapshot information is good except education. University of Phoenix for what?

Summary leads me to think you are an enterprise communication specialist. VoIP, email, etc.

    work exp:
I see what you worked with Cisco VoIP but not much telling me how or in what capacity. Descriptions for Kichler tells some but not much.

    Certs/recommendations/education are good.

Sorry Ande0255, yours came up after I had written the other. Picture is hard to get a feel for your personality and looks strange being smaller than the picture window with the grey background. Snapshot is good. I like the summary.

Work Exp: Your description for your work at Assurant is written in present tense but the dates say past tense. The other former roles are written in past tense. Bullet points are wordy but clear. Qwest communications summary could use some grammar work. First bullet point feels redundant.
    • Monitoring a ticket queue that generates tickets when network errors are detected, proactively call the business partner, and troubleshoot LAN issues on their network
    Might be better as:
Monitoring for network errors via ticket queue to proactively handle LAN issues for business partners? That was a first stab, just an idea.

I like that all the work experience has a summary and 3 similarly sized bullet points. Honors & Awards/Certs/Skills looks good. Looking at personal details wondering why birthday and marital status are included?

Overall: I get a good feel of your skills an experience from your profile.

Until you pointed that out I hadn't realized I left Assurant as present tense, think I was so eager to get my current job duties on there that I missed doing anything but putting Assurant as a past job date. I didn't actually realize my public profile was showing my DOB / Marital Status, I'll have to change that once I'm not on my mobile.

Thanks for the critique, much appreciated, I'll check yours out once I am on my pc and write any criticism I can find :)

Do not have one but is interesting looking through a few of yours... have just never needed one but think I may make one next week.

Polynomial, your first paragraph has a grammatical error, which I assume you do not want on this social resume.

"Naturally motivated to constantly learn I strive to better myself daily...". I believe either a period, semicolon or comma should break this up after the word "learn".

Picture looks weird. Is it photshopped/airbrushed? Summary doesn't tell me much about your skills.

    work exp
IPSec (1st) seems like a list of things but doesn't tell me much about technologies you work with. No data on previous job at same company.

Certs look good, show progressive learning.

    Architect192
Same picture issue as ANde0255. Snapshot and summary are good.

Looks good. I like the reccomendatons. Lots of experience, certs and education.

Picture is decent, snapshot information is good. No summary

    Work exp
CCT tells a little but not a ton. No information on the other jobs (but these are not IT related, so understandable)
Certs are good. What did you study at Ohlone college?

I'm looking to apply for some jobs now, so I'd like to get some opinions on mine. Perfect time for revisiting this forum! The only thing that really hurts my resume is a nine month gap where I had some non-paying acting gigs. Left it out since I go by a pseudonym. Anyways...

Picture is too casual feeling IMO - especially the one of you in Osaka. Not a fan of the snapshot comment about your fever. The rest is good. Summary is ok.

    Work exp
Details are good without being overly wordy. Pictures feel weird in context. I'm confused about jobs like dairy clerk and stock clerk but I think you're trying to show work history?

Most of the groups you show following are theater, art and gaming groups. This is OK but I would expect to see more technology groups. My .02, hope it helps.

I was being all inclusive with the stock clerk and dairy clerk jobs. Should I leave those off?

I chose a casual picture and title because I've seen too many dry, boring titles and didn't really know what to do with mine. I have help desk and retail experience with computers, but I'm still at a lost what I should be aiming for. I'd like to avoid work that makes me deal directly with end users, but I'm still debating with myself what kind of certs I need to study for. Almost tempted to try WGU for IT BS-Software since I could get education and a lot of certs...but I could probably self study for a fraction of the price. I guess that's why I am where I am...unsure of my direction.

@XaioTech your profile definitely stands out and that may not be a bad thing. My evaluation was subjective of my own taste and preferences. Most of us start out in a help desk position working with end users. Hang in there and keep going, you'll find your direction.

Thanks. Yeah, i still need to work on mine, not sure how to start on a summary. I've seen great examples but still feel stumped on what to write. At Ohlone, just a handful of general ed classes and a few tech classes. Previous jobs really limited my time in school.

Maybe it's not a big deal where you work...but do some of you realize you're providing a good deal of information about the internal workings of your IT organization?

I just clicked through a few of these and found specific versions of software/hardware, numbers of equipment, so was just curious. Public website and all....
