Taking the Project+ for WGU

So like many others before me, I am taking the Project+ for my WGU degree. I have taken about 6 other certs already, so I am familiar with the process, but for some reason this one has me spooked. It is so dry and boring, and it seems like it hardly applies to me. I don't feel like I am learning anything, just memorizing acronyms and the occasional formula. I have watched all the videos on PluralSight (about 10 hours worth), and I feel like I hardly got anything out of them. I am going to go through the Ucertify stuff this weekend, and I hope to schedule the exam for sometime next week, or the week after at the absolute latest. I normally breeze through topics, but this one has me worried. Any advice for what to focus on for the next 4-5 days before I can hopefully get the exam scheduled. I will take the practice exams this Saturday evening and Sunday to make sure I am prepared, and if my scores are awful, I will put it off for another work, but want to stay ahead of schedule on this if possible.

I know the feeling I'm also studying for the same exam in Project Management. Some of it's interesting but for the most part it's very dry to me.

Read the Sybex book a couple of times. Memorize the formulas. The exam isn't very hard.

I forced myself through the Sybex book as fast as possible. I think it took me 10 days from starting the book to being certified. The exam is pretty easy. That was one of the worst classes at WGU just for the sheer bordom factor.

Yah, I have read that the Sybex book is the way to go. I just finished to last hour of the PluralSight videos. A pretty good overview, but I feel as though there are still some areas to reinforce in my studying. I have the formulas down that you need, I just need to keep going over the key terms this weekend and see where that leaves me. I have a few resources for studying, so I will see what they have to offer, and I will attempt the uCeritfy practice exam for the first time here in a little bit to see where I stand. Fingers crossed, I would like to schedule this thing for a few days from now and get it out of the way.

So I actually just started going through the Sybex book. WOW! So much clearer. I was pretty nervous before, but I feel pretty good about the test now. I have read about half the book today, and will finish the rest tonight after work. I have my exam scheduled for Wednesday, so I am sure I will be ready to go by then. I have some notes I have put together to go over right before the test. Sybex is definitely the way to go for the Project+. No alternative.

Aced it!! 863 out of 900. Not too bad. Pretty tough, but the best thing for studying was the sybex book. Read that and I felt confident going in. Glad it is behind me, and now I can move onward to better things.

Congrats, my experience with this course/certification was very similar. I really did not enjoy the subject matter, and as such, was not very confident going into the exam. The exam itself fell into place pretty quickly and I feel I really over-prepared, wasting more time with it than I would have liked.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I just started this today and in Chapter 1 of the CompTIA study guide at WGU and it's not very exciting to say the least.

The Sybex book was all I needed to pass the test. I also found it very boring but I also came away with a huge respect for anyone who can pass the PMP!

So there's two books that WGU has on the course page. Is the CompTIA book the Sybex? Or you guys getting it somewhere else?
