Failed today with 878, never realised you couldnt go back

So I sat this exam today and due to time marked a couple of questions with check, and never even attempted the configuration using CCP which must be 5 or 6 individual questions as I thought I would leave it till last.

What a supprise when I got the the last questions and the button in the bottom left to be told my score, and not a list of questions to see if I would like to go back and check any.

What is the point in the comment box.

Got the testers through as soon as the score came up as I thought something was wrong as I hadn't pressed end exam. They have raised an incident, but think they knew the reason why it happened and don't want any bother.

Cisco exams doesn't allow you to mark a question for review, when you hit next that is it for the question no turning back so you need to make sure about your answers.

Are you sure about the score though, as far as I know generally the pass mark for Cisco exams are more or less 820 unless the pass requirement for CCNA Sec is higher.

As unfortunate as the situation is, this is something you should have been aware of before answering the questions, as it's something you acknowledge before entering the exam itself.

The comments are usually to provide question feedback to the designers of the exam.

I believe when I passed the passing score was 825.

The pass mark has went up to 898.

Just use to other exams where you can mark questions for review. Will just need to write off the £170 as an expensive mistake.

On the bright side, sounds like you will pass easily on the retake. That truly sucks though, sorry to hear it.

I'm assuming you have a CCENT/CCNA, right? I don't see it listed but this might've been discovered during your first Cisco test.

I like not being able to go back and review. Be sure with your answer, stick with it, and move on.

Same for me. my 2 highest scores have been with Cisco. I believe with the Microsoft exams that I've taken, when I'm not sure with my answer I usually change it when in the end my original answer was probably right.

898 is a ridiculous cutoff score. Even if for the questions are easy, even a couple of sloppy mistakes will bring you close to the brink if you came across some that you really dont know.

If they have raise the score that much they need to add some more difficult questions to the pool.

This, in conjunction with having to spend time with ccp makes me reconsider going for this exam...

898 is a very tight score without much room for mistakes. As cliché as this sounds, my advice for anyone taking this test is not to focus much on the pass mark but on the below;

Focus on the blue print – Learn all the technical stuff, be comfortable with configuring and verifying anything from both cli/gui.
The non-technical stuff is important as well, understand it well and be comfortable with it, for most people this is where the battle is lost or won so ignore it at your own peril. Remember that this is a Cisco exam so they will try and “plug” their own products.
CCP – Most people do not like working with CCP and neither do I, but you need to know how to configure, verify and interpret outputs – You also need to know the exact required steps for how to get to any section.

And also where you can find various configurations without having the interface infront of you... that was the hardest part imo.

Wait....doesn't the exam prompt you that you haven't made a selection for each question. I accidentally unmarked a question once on the CCNA and I hit next - it gave me a prompt box saying I haven't made a selection. Also, there is no back button on the bottom of the screen, only next.

Why are you taking CCNA Security w/o a CCENT or CCNA?

An 898 passing score is very high. I remember not too long ago it was near 800..
