RHCSA Material

Hey everyone,

So recently I asked a question regarding the RHCSA exam on a different thread. Well I want to actually start looking into material and studying / tinkering with some content. My background is I have an AAS in Network Administration and have taken several Linux classes and worked with several variations of Linux.

I don't really want another CompTIA cert because I think at this point Linux+ would be a waste of my time and money. Instead I'd like to go over to the RHCSA exam and learn that material instead.

Do any of you have any recommendations for study guides, labs, training sites, or anything else you can think of?

It all depends on how long RHEL 6 is being supported for as I would recommend

You may want to hold fire on ordering the above and look into is it viable to study for RHEL 6. With every new release there are changes

It may be worthwhile consulting the latest exam requirements from the Red Hat site and working through official documentation. Or waiting for a updated release to the Micheal Jang Book.

Thanks for the heads up. I see that CBTNuggets also has some CentOS Systems Administrator prep training that gained my interest. I downloaded CentOS 7 last night and am getting back into the groove of things. I'm wondering if this is similar to the RHCSA training?

I have watched the course you have posted I would say it is a good introduction to Centos concepts but doesn't go into enough detail for the RHCSA.

CentOS 6 - Install : Server World

Is a good site to understand Setting up services for Centos.

In terms of studying for the RHCSA I would try and find somebody in the know on this forum who can update you on when the 6 materials are being expiered and RHEL 7 comes into play.

Personally I am not studying for RHCSA I just enjoying learning about the technologies in my spare time, currently I am using Centos 6 and 6 materials as soon as some books that cover 7 and it's changes hit the market I will then update to 7 and learn about the new stuff.

Another tip download Evernote and document everything you learn.

The materials won't expire, but the last date to take the exam on RHEL6 is afaik 19th December 2014.
