I tried blogging once. Turns out I'm not as industrious as some of you.

Congrats to all the vExperts of 2015!!

It's been three years for me, great community and honored to be part of it.

No need to blog. Or VMware forums even. This year I actually went the customer route myself. Working with one of the largest consultancy and pretty darn big customers helps

Another option is 'partner' but you may need a reference.

Just adding that I was awarded vExpert for the 4th year in a row, a mix of blogging, forum moderation and customer experience.

is there like a semi-annual enrollment period?

enrolments are quarterly.

It's only twice this year, I think they found the third group last year was a little late as some of the gifts had expired.
