Inline power - 802.3af
JeanM
Picked up a 9975 and 8845 to play with in my lab, and they keep power cycling... look up the specs and figure out that the 3550 POE switch isn't 802.3af that these phones need. Works fine with 7940/7960 but not these newer models. DOH

Just keep this in mind when selecting a switch/phones for your lab

Definitely a worthy call-out.
Cisco has had a habit of release Pre-standard PoE switches.
They also offered a PoE+ on 3x50-E switches to power 802.11n AP's before the 802.3at standard was ratified.

It doesn't need to be Cisco power injector. Any brand that follows the standard will do.

I picked up 3560 for under $90 shipped, don't want to run power injectors, messy and doesn't scale
