ICND2: Odom or Lammle?

Well, I have scheduled my ICND2 for April 7th so Im going to hit it hard for the next month. So my question is if you could read just one book would it be Odom or Lammle? I've heard that for the ICND2 Odom's isn't up to the same quality as his ICND1 book.

I have several other study materials including Chris Bryant's CCNA Boot Camp, Boson NetSim and Boson ExSim.

It depends on you honestly. I've read both of them and will tell you that preference would be based on who's writing style you like more. I would say go to amazon and sample the beginning of each book, and then go from there.

I actually already have both books and used Odom's for the ICND1. I passed that exam last week and just wondered what everyone thought as a comparison.

I used both for the 640 Series ICND1 and ICND2. I read Odom's first and used Lammle's to review.

Odom's is better to learn w/. Lammle's is better if you already have exposure to the material.

My greatest criticism of Odom's is lack of labs. He's extremely good in describing complex topics logically. But the book doesn't have labs, so you could put things together. Lammle has some great labs at end of some chapters. Having said that, I would use both books 'cause combined, they help you a lot!

I am using Lammle with CCENT Exam Cram, and Odom's book for reference
and solving the practise questions.Do I needs to read the Odom's book indepth?
Are Lammle's book and Exam cram enough ?

I am doing all the labs in all the books.
Also using freeccnaworkbook,

Tbh, I'm pretty sure both leave out some topics covered in the exam. I would not rely on that as your sole resource. I'm speaking from experience.

If you research a bit, Cisco exams are extremely tough requiring enormous preparation. This isn't an exam where you will be asked the subnet mask of class C address or how would you give hostname to a switch

We have to read and practice using multiple resources. My priority is hands-on than anything.

In that case, Odom. Not alone though. More than just one book was required for me to be successful in my studies.

Lammle hands down. I think the way Odom presents the material makes it more complex then it really is. His diagrams can become confusing at times. Lammle text just looks cleaner and is more organized. But again it is preference. If you are looking for a different perspective, consider Paul Browning CCNA in 60 days. Since you have finished ICND1, just purchase his ebook for $10 on Amazon and read the ICND2 material that starts on day 31. +1 for Odom, I feel like he's talking to you vs Lammle where I felt like I was reading a text book.

However I still prefered the text-book feel of Odom's.

I really enjoy Lammle's book. Haven't touched Odom myself.

Pairing Lammle's 200-101 wit Chris Bryant's books on Amazon and sprinkling in Bryant's udemy videos and CBT Nuggets.

Here is a method I used after reading reviews on several websites,

Go to Barnes and Nobles, take both Odom's and Lammle's book compare them side by side and according to the exam objectives.

In Lammle's book I found that it had a better layout/font to study from and even the paper that it was printed on helped me make my decision. On the other hand I also compared those books with the Boson CCNA book and found the font was all over the place and I couldn't see myself getting use to it.

Well it seems I've sparked a bit of a debate lol. I think im gonna go through Lammle's book and use all the other study aids that I have. When I got my Associates I had to read through Odom's book so I might glance through it and see if I had some notes. Thanks to all for the input. Time to get to work
