Failed the 802 today

I got a score of 670

very sad and disappointing but I will study a lot harder this time around. I am not sure when I will retake the test maybe next week if I am feeling ready..

Sorry to hear that you did not pass this time around, but study hard, review the areas that the printout highlighted as weaknesses and take it again when you feel ready for it.

Sorry you didn't pass the 802. Don't get down on yourself. Study up on what you missed and you'll do great next time around.

Curious, what are you using to study?

I'm scheduled to take the 802 at the end of next month. I'm using the Exam Cram book mostly, but also the Mike Meyers and A+ Training Kit.

I am using the Holcombe/ McGraw Hill Eighth Edition book and also the Exam Cram as well as Professor Messors videos. I have plenty of study material so I think its just the fact I didn't study enough.. I feel that there are some topics where I studied extra for so I could make sure it was memorized [do not disclose your exam - it violates the NDA you signed]. Then there was some questions that really surprised me that I wasn't too familiar with. Some of the wording CompTIA uses on the questions threw me off a bit too. I think the best way to tackle these exams is just make sure you read up on everything thoroughly cause you never know what they will ask you on the actual exam.

H3 - I did get a print out on the objectives I need to work on but it was literally maybe one question spanned out across a lot of objectives that I got wrong so I have no idea where to brush up on. I'm just going to review everything again

You'll likely be more prepared the next time. Lots of folks do not pass an exam or several in their IT careers...it is the nature of the process. Did your exam score print with the areas of weakness included? This would be something to focus on, as well as the stuff you did well too!

Yes it did but many topics came back so I think I missed 1 question in each topic. It's hard for me to narrow it down on what to study for so I am just reviewing everything again that I think I am unsure of.

Sorry to hear powered! I failed my Linux+ LX0-102 last week and was extremely disappointed too - but then I studied hard and passed!

So don't worry - just study hard and be honest with how well you know the material. Good luck and I'm sure you'll be A+ certified in no time!!!

It feels horrible to fail an exam but keep your head up!! First thing, print out the exam objectives if you haven't already done so.

Review any topics you can't confidently teach or explain to someone verbally, like a friend.

Think about the exam and the questions you weren't sure how to answer.

Stay strong and believe in yourself!

I understand your frustration. When I took the A+ exam, I felt that CompTia can at times word their question very strange. And they have a tendency to ask "MOST" likely or "BEST" step type questions. I find that puzzling because you gotta hope that the methods you use in real world experienced are aligned with what CompTia says. I would say labbing is the best way to pass the 802 that and exp at the job if you are in help desk. Hang in there bud. You aren't the only one who struggles with test(s).

Basically I just kept on reading and watching professor messer videos over again. I went over the objectives that I missed that was printed out on the sheet and tried to study more on anything I felt I wasn't super confident teaching to someone else. I also filled out that survey at the end of the CompTIA exam this time around hoping they would give me a few extra points lol (although I know thats not true).

Congrats on passing the 802 exam on your second try. It really doesn't matter how many times you take an exam as long as you do not give up and try try try again until you succeed. You did just that. You did not give up and you passed the 802 exam. Now you are CompTIA A+ Certified. However, do not stop there. Keep going and go for other certifications. Build upon this success to continue future successes that may be on your agenda. I take my 802 exam on the 20th of this month and feel ready to take it with full confident. After I pass the 802 exam and become CompTIA A+ Certified, I plan on studying for the Network + and so on. Anyway, congrats again on your achievement and continued success.

Congrats. It is a horrible feeling, but the determination is awesome when you pass it. Makes you actually stronger for future certs. The CCNP route exam... before it changed over... I failed due to only having a few days to study for it before it expired. I will pass the 300 series exams next month. Failing that exam helped me crush 7 other exams. Keep it up!

Thanks everyone for your posts. So just to verify if you fail the first time around how many times can you take it after that? Is there a time limit on when you can take it afterwards?

I cant find anything on the internet regarding that.

There are no discounts for taking the test a second time, though I have read that some schools will offer discounts/take until you pass options.
