Definitely prefer holding the actual book. I stare at artificial light long enough at work. Just find it easier on the eyes and like flipping through physical pages.

I even bought a Kindle Paperwhite. Just isn't as good a physical book. I'll use the paperwhite if I'm traveling though.

I prefer to get comfortable on the couch and read with a book in my hand. I also have a tablet though and will read on that every now and then. Especially if I am reading out side the house. My physical books never leave my home.

If I can get the pdf or e-book version for free then I go with that

But if its coming out of my wallet I prefer to buy the actual book because after I am done reading it I can sell it used and hopefully only lose $10 - $15 dollars USD on the whole roundtrip

Also its easier on the eyes (in my opinion) to read a paper book. But not if its the size of a telephone book like the CCNA, thats too damn thick to read on the sofa

EDIT: I bought an 11 inch Chromebook for e-reading and I highly recommend it over a tablet, much more comfortable and I just hit the spacebar to go to the next page. Now the 8 inch tablet sits in my sock drawer for months

Got the Acer CB3 for $150 USD and it was money very well spent, cant say enough good things about the Chromebook

Well for me i tried the book and it's okay. I read everything on my mini or on my computer at work. PDF is alway a good way but remember you could also print out the book.. hahah that's if you have a printer that you don't pay for. lol...

The one reason i have bought a iPad is for this kind of e-books.
Real books are fun to have, but to thick and heavy.. And after i have finished reading them they disappear on the book shelf anyway.

    So i prefer a tablet.

Give me a physical book any day of the week. I don't like to read on the screen it gives me a headache after awhile, plus there is nothing like being able to actually mark on the page and take notes in the margin. There is something to be said for handwriting. Sure I have a couple of book cases full of old books that I may never open again, but they are always there to look up.

I go w/ PDF. But I print them out - duplex w/ 2 pages per sheet.

I don't like carrying huge books or fighting w/ the binding/spine. I don't like highlighting/writing in real books. But I also don't like reading/highlighting/writing on screens either.

Print outs are perfect for me because I can carry a chapter or 2 at a time w/ me. I have no reservations highlighting/writing on the sheets. Not reading on a screen.

Then after reading the book, it's easier to CTRL-F in the future on the PDF as a reference.

most paper books I have are just sitting on my bookshelves, waiting for me to read. Besides, they are at least a hundred-pages long, so it's not fun to carry them each day.

I prefer a physical book pdf's makes me lazy sometimes plus when you read a book you get to underline key sentences and make notes.

Purely digital unless the book I want isn't on kindle

I have a new kindle Voyage which is brilliant, I used to read on a nexus but could only read for an hour or two before I would feel the eye strain, with the kindle it is no different than reading a book plus if I want to read at work on my lunch I can use my laptop or my phone to continue where I left off and kindle books are usually cheaper.

I am moving to digital for everything, music, film and games

    do u highlight as u study ?
  • SkellySkelly Member Posts: 33 ■■□□□□□□□□
    It depends.

When I was a traveling consultant, I always used a tablet, that way I could have books to study, reference books, and books to relax with, without having to carry around excessive weight.. Now that I'm local only, I switch back and forth, mostly depending on cost. Sometimes I can get used books cheaper than the digital version, other times not. In both cases, I highlight and bookmark the relevant sections for future reference.

Yes I do but to be honest one of the great things about Kindle is it shows other peoples highlights as well, most of the time they highlight the stuff I would anyway.

I am not sure about other version but the Voyage also has a lot of new features that are quite cool

This is great when learning something brand new
