(ISC)2 Associate or Member for next exam?

Hi all,

This is slightly off topic in that it's not specific to CISSP or SSCP. I already have both of those and am certified.

I am studying for HCISPP from (ISC)2. I have only recently started working in healthcare, so I understand that even if I pass my exam, I will not be eligible for full certification for one year, despite my other security experience (1 year experience MUST be in healthcare).

I'm about to book the HCISPP exam, but it is asking:

"*Are you applying to take the Associate of (ISC)2 exam?"

Do I answer yes or no? I'm already a Member of (ISC)2, so I would say no. But I cannot be certified as yet with HCISPP due to lack of experience specific to healthcare. In that case, do I say yes?

Any ideas?

There is a grace period of about 9 months after passing for endorsement submission. Will you be able to accumulate 1 year healthcare experience by then?

You can always check with ISC2 directly.

A good point! Assuming I take the exam in December, then yes, I will have the required 1 year in time. Good suggestion, I've emailed them to ask about the associate/member question. Thanks!

Since there are no other prerequisites, just answer "YES" to the "*Are you applying to take the Associate of (ISC)2 exam?"
You get Associate of ISC2 after passing. No endorsement process required.

Once you accumulated enough experience, begin endorsement process to convert. You have up to 3 years after passing to convert.

Thanks barman and Mike7. ISC2 got back to me and they confirm what you've said:

This question relates to the exam you are about to take rather than any pre-existing membership, so in this case you should be appling for Associate. If you select Associate, it will cover you for the length of the HCISPP experience requirement so the 9 month rule won’t apply in that case.
