I work with a highly intelligence guy - he took GPEN, which stated that ECC stole everything from them to produce the CEH course/exam. He then took CEH bootcamp later and walked out with the cert (since the exam at the time was drawn from the actual official material taught at the boot camp) he stated it was a joke. He relies more on his GPEN than CEH, which he let expire. So - in a way, I'm glad I had the experience I did so I didn't waste any more time on continuing education credits on a cert that is losing repuation among the IT security industry....Glad I'm into OSCP - it's straight forward and producing real results.

C|EH is still considered at least an intermediate level exam (or Advanced if you look at CompTIA's roadmap).

This whole debacle, coupled with the trashing they've been receiving on the net for the past few years, makes me leary about the whole company. Too bad that they receive most of their validity from their inclusion in the DoD 8570 directive.

I'm guessing that a reasonable number of people taking it are trying to change career tracks, so maybe the cost is an issue since their current employer might be less willing to fund it. That might be a stretch, though.
