So what exactly you do in order to get prepared for the ITIL Foundation exam?

Dear forum user,

I've a question to ask. It was easy to prepare myself for CCNA and Microsoft certificates by doing the lab part of the preparation. You know, you read the book and then do some lab. As for ITIL, I don't know what to do. I am currently reading ITIL Foundation Exam Study Guide by Helen Morris and Liz Gallacher. I wonder what exactly one should do in order to pass the ITIL Foundation exam? Is reading the book is enough? What do you do to practice the ITIL?

My company sent me on a 3 day course as all employees need to be ITIL certified. We went through the coursebook, completed tasks and memory exercises. The day finished with recap / test exercises. At the end i took the exam based purely on what i had crammed in those three days. The exam was merely a memory test imo. The amount of acronyms and little details you had to remember was insane.

However, i can definitely see the value of the material if implemented correctly.

Ok, I am still reading and not giving up.

Is there example documents of ITIL? For instance, I am reading about Service Catalog, where I can find a real (or not real) service catalog just to have a look. Or can I see a Service Level Agreement of some company?

You're over-analyzing. I haven't taken it yet, but near as I can tell, read the books, study and prep enough, and you should be fine.

I am operating/prepping under this assumption. Its an entry level exam, I dont have time to look up the objectives for the exam but I remember is saying things like "Know" "Understand" and "be aware of". Those are all ways of saying that you need to know terms and their contexts, but you dont have to know how to apply them or use them. Just know what they are.

Read a few books, take a course if you can. There are a few good test preps out there, flip through this thread.

Just remember, the British are coming again, they're taking over IT with ITIL!
