Re: A+ 802 Flash Cards
Yeah I passed the 801. I read half the Darril Gibson book, and took some practice tests. When I'd miss a question I'd write down what I got wrong. Also know the RAM, Wireless, Bluetooth, and CAT 5 rates. Know LGA and which processor it is. Then familiarize yourself with the overview of how Windows works. That should give… -
Re: Killed the Security+ exam!
Yeah, I know I had to stare some questions down pretty hard lol. I changed my answers a couple times. One of my issues is thinking about real-world implementations, where more than one of the answers could honestly be completely true given the right situation... but with CompTIA you gotta remember that if they don't… -
Re: Linux + / LPCI1 LPCI2 Certification
Go onto the CompTia's Linux+ page to look up the 3-in-1 agreement. Basically you register with LPI, get your ID, and when you sit for your 101/102 exams you'll get a question asking you if you want your results sent to LPI. Say yes and if you pass both you will get your LPIC-1. Also Novell has the same agreement with its… -
Re: CCNP R&S or Security+
CCNP is going to focus on networking, and also Cisco hardware obviously, whereas Security+ is vendor-neutral. I think CCNP is going to be MUCH more valuable to you than Security+. I would say if you really wanted to go the CompTIA route for security and stand out, then you should go for the CASP instead. Otherwise I say go… -
Re: Confused on what course to take to have an IT career
Welcome to the TE forum! Glad to have you. I think you should get some certs, maybe some CompTIA, if you think you can handle MCITP then by all means go for it. I would self study unless you are having a hard time when you take some practice test, I think most of the people here self study. For some experience maybe you… -
Re: Self-study certificate to aim for
That's really difficult mate, 'not technical yet not managerial', my answer is nothing meet that - you have to choose. CISSP is managerial, CCNA is technical, I don't know what a cert in between is. I would've suggested SANS GCIH, but you don't want to pay for a training course. I would suggest CompTIA CASP, but you… -
Re: Taking 902 soon! Differences from the 901?
There will be some overlap. You'll find that the 902 is more in-depth about troubleshooting the OS. Don't assume that "OS" means Windows. There will be a few mobile questions, Mac and Linux. You'll need to know how to recover from various boot issues, configure storage (know your RAID levels) and how to install drivers,… -
Re: Frustrated over getting certified
Comment by DoubleNNs · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsThe CompTIA Project+ doesn't have any prereqs - no education or work experience requirements. Additionally, a lot of junior level PM jobs don't seem to have any hard prereqs and you can get the job w/o having already been a PM. I just passed the Project+ last Friday. Took me less than a month to study for. Additionally, a… -
Re: On to CASP - Time Crunch
Thanks for the insight. I read your original post. I went ahead and ordered the Pearson book/bundle. I went to check out the FedVTE course, but they pulled CASP: Important Update At the request of DISA, the following courses have been taken offline for PAO review and approval: * CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner… -
Re: Is this a good cert path?
I'd prioritize A+ then Sec+ then, net+ optional if you want to take smaller steps. Sec+ is very passable without net+ though. Linux+ is another comptia cert that should help. Once you have some experience you'll have to decide what security domain you want to pursue and get certified. Then go back to programming to develop…
