Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
A load indeed! I cannot see anyone of any intelligence being taken in by this. We have lost a lifetime certification, plain and simple. But, they are only basic level certs, and I used them to get my "foot in the door." So, I suppose they were worth the cost of the exams for that reason only, but advanced certification in… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
I have emailed CompTIA stating my great displeasure in this new policy shift, that I will never take steps to renew my present certification, and I will not pursue any new certifications. I hope that thousands of others are also doing this. Also, I will never renew my yearly membership in IT Professional site, and I let… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
I understand you. I am getting calmed down now, but I will still never resort to CompTIA again with these new policies in place. And, for all of my attitude, I do not really need entry-level certificates anymore to get a job, or to feel good. My plan is to move ahead and up in technical level. I also can see your point… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
Well, as much as I would think that CompTIA is only trying to secure more income with the least possible effort...i think this is actually a good idea. Cisco requires you to re-up your certs every once in awhile to keep it current. While you dont "recertify' on the same cert for MS, you have to constantly upgrade to newer… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
Honestly I would lean towards yes. I got the A+ to keep my job and the situation at my job is more or less I have to wait for someone else to retire or leave before I can move up so my current certs aren't going to help me move up and apparently won't help me get a better job. Since my career is in neutral in the meantime… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
I get where you are coming from but guess what.....degrees get old too! I guarantee the degree I got in Computer Science back in 1991 has no relevance in the Comp. Sci. world of today. Hell we were still using mainframes for computing. And networking was just a dream that nerds thought would be cool. I'm not upset that… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
I think everyone should put on their big boy/girl panties and STFU! The reason for the change to keep the certification current is for ISO certification. ISO certifications increases the importance/value of the certification. Have any of you actually read the requirements for continuing education? Just by doing what you… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
Who are you to decide how other people should think? I believe you're being totally arrogant and self righteous towards some of the members on hee. This is not your forum or blog if they want to complain on here that is there right. The least you could do is show some class in the way you wrote that post. Most of the… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
I can see them maybe doing this to address the Government requirements for IT certs and CompTIA's issue of never having to renew. I remember my last job telling us that the way it was written it would seem to suggest that you had to retake the Security+ because the Government was looking at the date taken and going three… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
Thank you for your well thought response. CompTIA has every right to change their policies. This is part of the agreement you are so vehemently defending in the first place. In order to maintain their ISO (and other standards) accreditation this model needed to be adopted. Yeah, it is a pisser that your Whatever+ may…
