Re: Apparently I'm studying CISSP
Yes, thats the plan. And the goal is for about 4 tests in 4 months. 4-5 weeks for the 293 and 294, and then to spend 5 or 6 working on both the 298 and 299 and then to take the 298 one week and the 299 the next week. I have all of the books for all 4 tests, transcenders for the 293 and 294, and a CBT nuggets subscription.… -
Re: getting burned out
We all hit that wall. You have to think of it like getting a second wind if you run, or ran as a kid. Just when you thought you couldn't go another step, your body goes into cruise control and you can run till your muscles hurt. Your brain works the same way. You're a bit close to the test date, but I can tell you what… -
Re: Advice on breaking into management
MS/MBA(or both is even better), Six Sigma, PMP, ITIL, & CISM to name the few things off the top of my head. Maybe try to start leading some project at your company or even freelance jobs if you have the time. I've learned in my short career that business/comminication skills are more important than technical skills at… -
Re: Path advice
For starter certification between 0 to 2 years, CEH, Sec +, SSCP are some of the starter certs you had nailed. Between 2 to 4 years, GIAC worth the knowledge and ROI. Every two GIAC cert is nearly equivalent to a CISSP in terms of salary gain. GCIH, G2700, GISP are some of the easier cert to challenge via self study . GSEC… -
Re: CCIE Advice
If you look in the WGU Student experience thread, I posted about my last year. But between trying to finish my degree at WGU, dealing with parenthood and being in the military, I'm a little burnt out to commit to the 8 month to year+ CCIE journey. In the mean time, I can pursue a few other lighter certs like CCNP Security,… -
Re: CRISC Scheduled for 6/21
Thanks tphan3! Yea thankfully the CISM, CISA and CRISC relate to work I've done in the past, and most definitely my current role. I've just decided I'm getting sick of the non-practical type of certs and since my manager told me to just expense all of it I decided to go on a tear and knock them out. Also ISACA finally… -
Re: Failed CCSP - Certified Cloud Security Professional
Hi Swish45. I failed with 694 on August 17th. I have worked and currently work in a SaaS company and studied for this exam carefully but still failed. I like your analysis of the exam. Too wordy as they were testing language and not subject matter. I truly don't know what else to read but I will try to remember a few… -
Re: Which certification now?
Hi! It depends what kind of job you have in mind. If you want management and high level work, then you should go after CISSP and the ISACA certifications (CISA, CISM, etc) If you are more interested in technical-level jobs. Then I suggest to take at least one pentest cert. My favourite is OSCP, but it's a little hard for… -
Re: Who's done the TOGAF or PfMP
have done ISO 27001 LI/LA , COBIT 5 Also ISO 22301 LI/LA , I am confused with the value of TOGAF 9.1 vs CISSP , which would will make more value , does TOGAF has same value as CISSP/CISM has ? are both certifications are same level certifications ? I left technical/operations 3 years back and went totally into… -
Re: Any help with my career?
His BS degree waves one year of the 5 year requirement. And for the original poster, if you are planning on staying on the GRC side of the house consider the CRISC and CGEIT and then CISM. I dont see the benefit to adding the CISA to your resume at this point, as it is primarily an audit cert and adds no value over the…
