Re: PMP - Best Study Guide?
Comment by erpadmin · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsWell, I was going to use my PM class at school as my 35 hours, originally...until I realized that Skillsoft counted. We all pretty much agree that when we think of Skillsoft, we utilize more Books 24x7. There is no way in Hades though I would recommend using Skillsoft by itself to take the PMP exam though, BUT it is… -

Comment by erpadmin · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsYou know what, do yourself a favor and check out the Heldman book. You can go to any Barnes and Noble and find one to look at. She does mention construction projects as examples. Not for nothing, but I would think there are a lot of PMP materials that tie into construction projects that would have helped you. I think your… -

Comment by erpadmin · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsIf it wasn't for the fact that I was won a Kindle 2 as vendor swag at a out-of-state conference, I would have gone Nook myself. However, since I am a Kindle owner, I buy my books from Amazon (including the Heldman book.) eReaders are very convenient, and I'm able to use Text-To-Speech for subjects such as the PMP studies… -

Comment by erpadmin · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsWell...I guess I'm technically up at bat, but I don't plan on sitting for this exam anytime soon, thanks to both you and Powerfool. I am, however, going to hit the book that I am using hard (as the reviews on Amazon did have a couple of folks that did pass the PMP the first time...and they were not fake reviews either [if… -
Re: PMP - Best Study Guide?
Comment by erpadmin · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsI'm using Skillsoft's classes (lackadaisically, mind you) just to get the 35 contact hours out of the way + the PMP Project Management Professional Exam Study Guide by Kim Heldman. If need be, I may get the Andy Crowe book, but I'll see how I feel after I read the Heldman book. She got me the win for Project+ and while she… -

Comment by erpadmin · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsNo....I anticipated that. What's gonna happen is a lot of the stuff will get repeated from my PM class. Plus, a lot of it will be put in practice when I have start the group work. Believe me, there will not be a week that goes by where I'm not doing some sort of PMP prep work....I may even read at least one of the books… -
Re: PMP - Best Study Guide?
Comment by fivestars · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsI'm starting this process with the guidance of a colleague who is already PMP certified. I've read this entire thread so I understand for PMBOK v4 the advice would have been to study Rita and Crowe. But what about PMBOK v5 which was released just this year? Are there significant changes that would warrant anyone… -

Comment by universalfrost · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management Certificationsjust because a person has passed away doesn't mean that their work is invalid... Rita was not the only one writing her book(s) and course materiel. The latest (7th ed) of her book is up to date and contains the information you need to pass. Combine this with her exams (closest to the real exam as far as wording and answer…
