Re: ERPAdmin's PMP thread (finally.)
Comment by erpadmin · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsMy new PMP materials (Mulcahy, & Crowe books plus Crowe's QRG) came in yesterday while I was at work. Since they arrived earlier than antipcipated, I have started reading Rita first. I'm going to read a chapter a day (started today, finished chapter 1) and ensure I continue getting up in the morning early so that I can do… -

Comment by erpadmin · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsMy PMP application audit materials have been received. (Got the email at 1:11PM.) I guess it helped that I sent that stuff certified mail/return receipt requested. Was worth it to ensure that PMI would get started on this right away. I should know by next Friday at the latest what my status is. Hopefully I'll be out of the… -

Comment by erpadmin · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsWell, I just submitted my application.... Man...I had to dig deep into documents, emails, etc, just to get a proper accounting. Then I had to do some math to figure out how many hours I did etc. Good news is that I sent my application today. I'll know sometime this week if it's a Go/No-Go for PMP and then I will schedule… -

Comment by erpadmin · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsI see what you guys mean about Chapter 3. Apparently, even RMC knows how bad Chapter 3 is. I need to read that chapter with a clear head. I am understanding the exercises but knowing how the Process Groups works the Rita way is terribly confusing and I almost want to deal with just the "meat and potatoes" myself with Crowe… -
Re: ERPAdmin's PMP thread (finally.)
Comment by erpadmin · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsWell, I reread chapter 3 twice and (before I took the exam) and I still got 60% (once.) I'm going to go on to chapter 4. My professor in my other course wanted more elaboration with me on one of my readings, and that had to go up the queue. (I'll talk about that in my grad school thread.) I'm still on track to finish… -

Comment by erpadmin · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsWhat makes you think I won't get the "green light"? I'm really curious about that... Because I am not going to pay full price for the PMP exam? Sorry but I have no qualms telling the rest of my TE brethren who may be graduate students or even undergrad students that being a PMI member at a greatly reduced cost will get… -

Comment by erpadmin · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management Certificationsspiderjericho, I plan on looking at Andy Crowe and Rita (may she rest in peace), but I want to give Kim H. a chance because she did help me pass Project+. I may just go with Andy though after I'm done with Kim H just to see if it's needed. While I found her boring, since I'm already familiar with her format, I figured why… -
Re: ERPAdmin's PMP thread (finally.)
Comment by erpadmin · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsWow...today was a day full of "iterative processes...." I just finished typing in the 5 process groups, and all 42 processes (grouped by the process groups, of course) into my Evernote. As a bonus, I had to copy and paste the inputs and outputs that pertain to those said processes. This was all from chapter 3 of the PMBOK.… -
Re: ERPAdmin's PMP thread (finally.)
Comment by erpadmin · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsMrock, I'm about to explain this right now. One of the requirements for the PMP exam is that you have to show "35 hours of formal education" of an PMI-approved project management course. Skillsoft is an approved PMI vendor for providing that training. A WGU course like TPV1 (which is passing CompTIA Project+) does not… -

Comment by erpadmin · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsTimone, as a matter of fact, I did book the exam date a few minutes ago. D-Day is October 27, 2012. Between the Project+ I obtained a little under 2 years ago, the bullcrap Skillport courses I zipped through just to get the 35 hours, reading a few chapters of the PMBOK (which I plan on completing for PMP by the end of the…
