Re: Pathway to CyberSecurity Architect
Appreciate all the replies. I will check out security onion and also the CIS Top 20 My current position entails network security and vulnerability management. By vulnerability management I mean, I'm responsible for our scanners, I resolve my network vulnerabilities and then discuss all the others with the appropriate… -
Re: SOC Analyst L2 interviews questions and possible answers
Most any topic on the CySA+, CASP+, GSOC, and GMON certifications is fair game for Tier 2 SOC Analyst. You also better know a bunch of different log files as event sources, how to read an email header, the basics of Threat Intelligence and Digital Forensics techniques, explain how you use a SIEM and a ticketing system, and… -
Security Implementation/Architecture Path
So I recently acquired CISSP certification just because it's highly sought after, but I'm not really interested in management track right now. My other certs are CompTIA (CySA+, Sec+ etc) My current duties right now are mostly administration of existing cybersecurity tools as well as server management etc. What I'm looking… -
Re: Taking PenTest+ After Sec+
Pentester here (well about 25% of the time among other security duties). I see like 4 hits for Pentest+ on a popular online job board. Might be better to save the Pentest+ for another year or two and then take it as a convenience to renew your Security+. I mean it's a means to learn more about penetration testing,… -
Re: Unsure if I am ready
The current version of the test is 501 and the objectives are a lot different then 401. Most of the time the a new version of the test is mostly the same with a few updates, but there were a lot of differences this time (probably because they moved some of the material to CySA+). I'd say the best way to know if you're… -
Re: Just failed an interview for a cyber security engineer....
The CCNA Cyber Ops labs (official ones) have given me slightly more of a hands-on taste of IPS/IDS (Security Onion/Snort/Bro/ELSA) than I got out of the CySA+ labs (through Cybrary). Neither really gave me enough hands-on experience that I'd count it on a resume or in a job interview. I don't think a cert exists that could… -
Re: Anyone else pay for their own certification exams/materials?
I've paid for my beta exams Cysa+ and Pentest+, paid for some books (CCNA SECFND and SECOPS, ISC2) and some AMFs. I'm also paying for my masters, my ACM membership and ITProTV. The safari books online is so good I'm thinking of axing ITproTV, don't have the time to use both. The rest of the certification exams have been… -
RSA Conference + Precon Boot Camps 2023
Infosec (and many others) are gearing up for RSA Conference. (If you didn’t know, TechExams is owned by Infosec Institute. You don’t see a lot from Infosec here because we like to let TechExams members do their own thing, but we’re hoping to meet a few of you in person and hear your thoughts on TechExams! ) Come see us in… -
Passed CASP
Passed CASP today 20191204 After failing twice I finally passed, I've been studying for this exam for over a year. I started studying right after I passed the CySA exam. The exam was very difficult but I feel like I know what type of questions we're going to be on the exam due to my previous experience, the perks of… -
Re: To those of you with employers that pay for your training/schooling/certification....
that was exactly the point of my post. The ones that have it available and don't use it are simply nuts in my book, except for the 1-2 rare circumstances you simply can't. I'm using the 2k from my employer and I'm adding another 2k on my end and seeing where I can go. I'll have [hopefully] A+, Network+, Security+, Project+…
