Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
Yes, I'm glad that the protesting worked against CompTIA's decisions on LIFE certifications. I don't have the certifications yet, and even I wasn't happy about it. Like I said before, I'm going to work smart and try to get the CompTIA A+, Network+, and hopefully Security+ by the end of this year. I know it's a lot of work… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
You know I'm going to be a dick and be straight up about it...it's about the money I spent. The career crap will work itself out or it won't and that's not on CompTIA's shoulders it's on mine. But I paid for certifications based on the understanding that the certs were lifetime certs. Now they are not lifetime certs. I… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
Just got off the phone with CompTIA, and was told that you don't have to do a yearly $50 fee. You will only have to pay the year you renew it which makes it less than $17 a year to keep your CompTIA certifications renewed. What really caught my attention is when she told me you could use work experience, and college… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
I will still pursue my A+, Network+, and Security+, but Comptia has lost my trust. I need these certifications so that I can gain knowledge and demonstrate to an employer that I am employable. Just like everyone else has said, the selling point for these exams has always been that there has been a presumption that these… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
I have not taken the security+ and I will not now. I am glad the Linux+ was exempted. I won't take Net+ or A+ over again. Just put on your resume A+ tech certified August 2005. You can let the HR people know that it is "un activated" at the moment. And if you get hired go retake the thing. Why Net+ when you can CCNA? Why… -

Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
No attitude here and if you feel that way I apologize. As I read my post I can see how you would get that impression. For the record I do not have my degree yet (working towards it) and I was not trying to sound like an elitest or something, I was just being blunt and honest which is hard to differentiate in a text based… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
I don't doubt that's the case, not one bit. Still, you have to figure that it's a pretty low-blow for CompTIA to demand that their current cert-holders begin renewing after being told the certs were good for a lifetime, when even Microsoft isn't screwing old MCSE's and MCPD's out of having their certs on transcript forever…
