Re: For those of you who are fully remote
@Tr1x He uses a conferencing solutions like global crossing, netmeeting, etc. He is usually out of the country half the year traveling to Central and South America. It's a great gig and since he speaks fluent English and Spanish and some Portuguese his salary has gone up exponentially since learning those foreign… -
Re: Is CEH being replaced?
Check this link http://www.eccouncil.org/cnda.htm and compare it with http://www.eccouncil.org/CEH.htm - Its the same thing. What is the value for existing CEH if they are going to certify some of the candidates as CNDA? Everything is the same. There is no alteration. Its not just money here... If some of us are going to… -
Re: Dealing with Tough Clients
*groan* I've been there my friend. There are a couple suggestion that I have for you: 1. Inform your clients of certain scenarios before you take the computer: Do they need a backup? Explain in terrible detail what can happen to their data if they do not have a backup. Always do a full visual inspection of the guts… -
Re: Government jobs
I think employers are going to have to adapt to giving "Quality of Life" benefits vs money if they want to compete in maintaining/attracting quality employees. Money reaches a point where it is just money that allows you to buy crap that makes you temporarily happy but does not contribute to your quality of life. QOL… -
Re: MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Support Technician 7
Comment by skrpune · · Home› Certification Preparation› Microsoft› MCTS / MCITP on Windows 2008 GeneralAccording to this: ?!?! And FYI, the HDI exams cost $225 a pop. I've never heard of these folks before, and it strikes me as a little odd that they'd charge that much to take a test online. And apparently the only study materials for it are available through HDI themselves in the form of training. You can either do… -
Re: General SCCM related questions
Comment by MSSoftie · · Home› Certification Preparation› Microsoft› MCSA / MCSE on Windows 2012 GeneralSCCM is a great tool. I don't know how help desks with more than a couple of hundred computers does without. I don't know the politics of your workplace but if you could demonstrate it successfully you might get a big feather in your cap. One thing to keep in mind is that IT managers or the management they answer too think… -

Re: CISSP-ISSAP Study Guides Recommendations
I don't know how much help this will be but ..here is what I found. The Krutz & Vines CISSP and CAP Prep Guide (Platinum Edition) has a section on ISSAP. But it is SHORT, only 5 pages! It is listed as a concentration of CISSP and here is a summation of what it says (summation) Study the Access Control CBK of CISSP Study… -
Re: Salary for systems admin in NYC?
For some odd reason, even with a higher cost of living, the majority of IT jobs in NYC are not where they should be compared to other states like MD/DC. The salary also depends on the companies industry. In the hedge funds, you can have help desk making $150k but in the other companies, the help desk caps out around 50k.… -
Re: Job advice
You mentioned learning Python, Linux and FreeBSD. How do you feel about those? Do you have interest in learning them and will they help you along your career path? Which is also the next question. Whats your career path? Is this job going to help you get to that or more of a lateral move. Also need to compare companies.…
