Re: I'm strongly considering an MBA.
As for the MBA, I say go for it...It's in demand now, and will be in demand more and more in the future... I can relate to your hatred to poor planning. As I'm doing implementations most of the time...and yes you can never have enough technical knowledge, and it's overwhelming sometimes...but I enjoy it more than… -
Re: CEH V7, any takers?
I hope to take the CEH in the next few weeks; I just stared studying for it about a week ago. I do presently have CISSP and Security + (latest one-which I thought was a lot of nice improvements) which I hope will help. I will gladly share the CEH experience after done I picked up some books about a week ago and hope to… -
Re: Cheap VMWare course?
It wouldnt, entirely. But the sims are locked out to where you can only go into the correct menus, or 2-3 others max. This will be a full running OS with the ability to screw up everywhere. They may also open up the "questions" a lot more and say something like "Install an AD domain for Contoso.com with such and such OUs,… -
Re: Study time vs. Family time
@rwmidl...I believe it. The days/weeks seem to pass even faster since the baby came. I'm just glad I finished my CISSP before her delivery. If I had failed the first attempt, I would have been studying for the retake with a newborn in the house. That was a big motivating factor for me to pass the first go round. If I can… -
Re: Creating flashcards for an iphone?
There are several, I used Flashcard Exchange and the app for a while and it works great Flashcards: The world's largest online library of printable flash cards You can create your own or use what other people have created on the website. Also on the app you can download from the app. I keep some CISSP, Security+, Network+… -
Re: The WGU Challenge - Finish in 1 term
I have the CCNA Cisco Press and Sybex books but only the Cisco Press books from CCNA:Sec. Was the Sybex book that much better? With my CISSP, I have a pretty good handle on most of the security basics, I just need to know the Cisco specific stuff. Since so much is(was) done in SDM, it pretty easy to fumble through it. I do… -
Re: When should you stop learning?
philz, I would consider myself somewhat of a Generalist. I manage a VMWare environment with Windows Servers. I manage Dell and Cisco switches along with Cisco APs. I would much rather specialize in something than attempt to be a jack of all trades. It's very easy to get burnt out by trying to maintain your vendor… -
Re: Do Microsoft Certs Suck?
This would have been a much better way to open this thread than asking if MS certs suck. Beyond the CompTIA, CISSP and SANS certifications, they are almost all proprietary. By studying MS you will also gain knowledge and insight into RADIUS/IAS, TCP/IP, IPSec, Kerberos, PKI, DHCP, DNS, hardware/drivers, scripting… -
Re: Full use of alloted time for an exam???
The exact total time I was alloted was 4 hrs and 15 minutes (15 minutes for comments and the survey). This is based on a few things including how many of what types of questions you have, and how many questions you have total in general. I had about 5 sims where as most people who've went before me reported usually 3. I… -
Re: Passed Security+ 04/29
I'm not sure I can nail down a major difference between the two, but here are some that come to mind.* More questions (250) * Stricter requirements for certification * Only multiple choice questions * Some questions can be much deeper than Security+ questions You'll find that the SSCP is a little more difficult than the…
