Re: What certification to go for next?
I've heard people taking the eCPPT as kinda a warm up before studying for the OSCP. Never the other way around. Since you got your OSCP, why not try for the OSCE as your next pentest cert? That one would impress some people. I would be surprised if I ever met someone outside of this forum who has heard of the eCPPT. No one… -
Re: How to move out from help desk
Information security can be a big field. Cisco is definitely a big one to learn and I, personally, found it a ton of fun. If you're looking for a more technical security role, I would recommend CCNA>CCNA:Security> Get a network or security oriented job so you can put some of this to practice> CCNP:Security & SSCP If you're… -
Re: Cisco Alias Command
thanks Ten9t6 for such a nice tip When i got my free copy of CBT training videos then i was preparing for CCNA but just out of curosity i looked at the training video for CCIE and i found the same tip in that video although i was not so concerned about it... but in later certifications it would prove useful (as u said :) )… -
Re: Prevalence of Scripting in Pen-Testing
Pentesting is a field that can be gotten to in many different ways. Some people have been playing around for years while others need formal education. With out knowing your level of knowledge I would say to go to school for networking and learn the basics (hardware, software, protocols, methods..etc) as this will form the… -
Re: NOOOOO JOB
Some of this is true but there are a few things to know. 1. 40% to 60% does not apply to all classes. Not even most. The more complex the class topic is, usually the more your pay will be. For example, I'll easily make $15,000 a week for teaching CISSP review seminars or CEH classes. That's because I teach at a flat rate.… -
Re: Holding Multiple Jobs In Cybersecurity
I guess it's possible for well known cyber security professionals to have side gigs, like Eric Cole, Ed Skoudis, or Stephen Northcutt, it's unlikely Joe Smith who works at ABC inc and has a CISSP is going to have the repetition that other companies are going to trust sight unseen to preform cyber security work for them.… -
Re: Listing 'In Progress' Certs on Your Resume
I have seen some resumes put the "in progress" and come to find out during the interview they don't even have it scheduled. I also know some people personally who put "degree in progress" and they got called out during the background check because work found out they had not taken a class in years. My current job I had… -
Re: Taking CCSA/CCSE NGX in 2007
I'm in the middle of studying for CP certs myself. I recently passed CCSA NGX and have NSA/CCSE/CCSE+ planned for the following months. Forget what other people are doing. What's right for you? - Check Point is one of (perhaps THE) the major firewall brands worldwide. If you're into firewalls,go for it. In my area people… -
Re: Fifteen Top Paying IT Certifications
This is list hilarious to the point of absurdity, (and this is the list, not the OP.) I am sure the people who were part of this survey had other certs/degrees/experience that brought them the salary that comprise the average. If I was someone completely new to IT, I would read this list and want to become Project+ making… -
Re: Network Security Engineers/Techs/Admins
A: How long you have been working in the field (IT): Around 11 years B: How long have you been working in InfoSec?: 7 years C: What InfoSec certs you have? CISSP, Security+, Plan on taking the CISA in June. D: How did you get into InfoSec? By accident. As a sys admin nobody really thought about security, the place of…
