Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
I have a solution. Keep Security+ at three year rotation. Beef it up to compete with other security arena certifications. Spend money marketing new Security+ to HR departments. Ok now retire Net+. You saved money not up keeping this exam CompTIA. Now leave A+ at lifetime because it is like a high school diploma. My high… -

Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
I don't know if you've read through all the terms & latest updates about the certification renewal policies, but anyone who is currently certified or becomes certified through the end of this year remains certified for life. They're not enforcing the new renewal policy until January 1st of next year. Not sure what CompTIA… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
VCP, CCIE, GIAC, CISSP and the like are a quite different kettle of fish. They are high end certs and marketed as such. They are not marketed as for life. You know the deal when you take these certs, you are not sprung a big surprise ! A retro-active decision that goes back 10+ years. I will be voting with my wallet from… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
Well seeing how they only made about 500 dollars off of me I hardly call that a livable wage Like?? Look at the comptia site. Look under expired for you last your certs. What does yours say? Mine says NEVER. I know what they said but I know what I see as well... Dude chill out. I complete understand what you mean (as I… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
The point is we will not STFU! because CompTIA agreement said that the certs were for lifetime, and the idea that ISO cares about renewal of entry-level certifications is absolutely absurd. The certification is not an upgrade, and the whole idea of renewing an entry level cert still leaves the holder at entry level and… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
Thats a lot of money for a couple of computer based tests. Its a business, many peoples tests will obviously be required to fund one staff member. They could have produced new certs entirely like MS did, they could produce special recert extension exams like MS did for their security exam for MCSA:S, they could have… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
That wasn't really the point. It was about those certified being up to date and not simply learning to pass and then forget it due to their lack of initiative. Either way, I don't see Comptia as an end cert program, but merely an introduction. Once one moves on to more advanced certs you don't need to worry about renewing. -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
Personally, I think it's a shameful maneuver on CompTIA's part to force current A+, Network+, and Security+ holders to renew their certs. It'd be one thing if they had said that everyone taking the new versions of the exams had to renew, or as of January 1st, 2010 there would be an expiration date on exams taken. However,…
