Re: Passing Net+ with ZERO Networking Experience
Definitely check out Professor Messer's videos. I am using his videos along with the CompTia Exam Cram. I started studying last month in hopes to pass the exam before winter break was over. I finished the Exam Cram while taking notes and watched all of Professor Messers videos. I am going to do one more week of doing… -
Re: Entry level helpdesk role
Just break this down for certification. There is no way you can earn the certs on your own in a year on this one. Even the MCDST and Office certs will take a good 3-6 months. But hopefully these links will help you see what you need to work on. Good working knowledge of the following products & technologies: Windows… -
Re: Failed OS TWICE! :(
i would take everything here said on board. get the exam cram parctice questions ....like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0789731088/026-1152203-3011640?v=glance&n=266239&s=gateway&v=glance when you take the exam re-read the question at least twice before answering, ive found once you understand the q, you can look… -
Re: How difficult is the A+ Certification?
I know alot of good tech's that had their as*'s handed to them on a platter when sitting for those two exams unprepared. There is alot of material to soak up, and studying, as well as doing practice tests will ensure more confidence and a solid grasp on what to expect. While I agree that Comptia certs are not as difficult… -
Re: RHCSA or Linux+
To validate what varelg stated from the book he mentioned. I really recommend the LPIC series certifications to anyone who would like to work with the Linux OS professionally. There is just too much information to try to sum up into a single certification track to consider you a Linux professional. Also, a great thing with… -
Re: MCSE: Server Infrastructure beginner
Comment by MSSoftie · · Home› Certification Preparation› Microsoft› MCSA / MCSE on Windows 2012 GeneralDon't forget the certs for Windows 7 and 8. They are not a bad way to start and will introduce you into the topics on the server exams. Desktop OS's are also a very common way to get started in the field. If you already have experience with them they shouldn't be overly out of the box for you. I agree that a basic computer… -
Re: Where are all the people?
I too appreciate your concern, but quite frankly a post like this is not really helpful as it may give the wrong impression to new visitors. Most of us are here every day. And the forums in general are far from 'slow', we receive about 120,000 visitors per month and growing as always. We still get 100-200 new members per… -
Re: Career path changes
Network+ is the next logical step for CompTIA certs. I have never seen any noise made about Server+, so I would skip it. If I were you I would rub some elbows with the Admins and ask them what certifications are valued for your company (Microsoft, Cisco, etc) In the meantime studying for Network+ would certainly help you.… -
Re: Studying the Meyers book??
some say the best way to study is to read the book through once and to make your notes on the second reading. i would suggest that you take as much time as possible to study, rather than aiming for a date to take your exams that is too close. when you think you have most of the book (or books) digested, you should download… -
Re: Which way to A+??
when i opened my a+ books for the first time i felt so overwhelmed by what i had to learn. but as you read some you learn some. a+, in my opinion, is not worth taking bootcamps and the like. think of it as a computer tech apprenticeship. spend as long at it as you need. comptia have aimed the exam at techs with six months…
