Re: Having serious problems with Novel/Netware OS!
CompTIA -> if you have NetWare in your environment, you are using IPX/SPX or Microsoft's version of IPX/SPX called NWLink. I don't know if it stand for this, but think NWLink = NetWareLink. Realworld -> NetWare 5 and higher uses TCP/IP as its native protocol. When you connect to a NetWare Server you can use the client… -
Re: Network+ vs Cisco
Hi laptop, The Network+ exam is similar and different from the CCNA exam. If you have little or no network experience, I would recommend doing the Network+ first then the CCNA since the cisco material builds on some of the net+ concepts. I don't know what kind of curriculum you went through for your degrees but if you took… -
Re: Opinions on my Career
I completely agree with binarysoul on this. You have to decide what you want to do, before you can figure out what certs you want to get. However, if you're not quite sure where you're going or what you're interested, other CompTIA certs aren't a bad way to go. Something like Network+ gives you a very good grounding in… -
Re: Net+ Test Dec 21
Have you reviewed the CompTIA exam objectives on their web site, comptia.com? Review these and be sure you have some entry-level knowledge on each subject. They may give you a question on anything in the objectives. Have you tried the practice tests here on TechExams? I found that they're a good indication of readiness.… -
Re: CCNA and CIW
Sam, yes. I have done 1D0-510 and 1D0-435 (Javascript). Normally, when people ask about the CIW exams, it's to fulfill a requirement for Western Governors University, where many TE members attend (including myself). I don't list my CIWs on my cert lists because I don't really view CIW certs as real certs. I can tell you… -
Re: Passed, but some lessons learned...
That was my line of thought, ultimately I would like to get to MCSE SS. There are several ways of getting there and my line of pursuit is something like this... A+,N+,210,215,218 - MCSA Sec+, (214) - MCSA SS (216),(217),(220) - MCSE SS This means doing 10 exams, but Im doing it in three hops just in case I run out of… -
Re: Should I go back and get A+ certification?
Darril, thanks for the advice it's appreciated very much. I see that you've written several books, that's very impressive. I'm currently pursuing a similar path to yours as I want to publish books of a similar manner (just not on comptia exams), how did you go about getting yourself published? I'm not really sure where to… -
Re: What should I do? Guide me!
You could do the Net+ cert first to be sure you got the network basics covered you need for CCNA.... I would say passing the CCNA exam is harder than passing any MCSE exam, but not because of the topics, just the much lower passing score of MS exams that make them easier to pass. If you can get hold of a router or two and… -
Re: Study/take A+ tests separate??
I've always worked with hardware and software together, and when I finally realized there was an exam availble many years back, I tookt them together. Figured that's how they work in the world, so why take time off from work on two separate days when it can be finished at the same time? Just a thought. BTW- I'm not sure… -
