Re: I'm baaaaack!
Congrats on passing the Security+ optimus. Five years ago I had worked as an admin in the PKI world, and bought and read two Security+ prep books so I can come up to speed on the InfoSec world, but was too chicken to take the exam back then. A few months ago, I took 6 weeks to review and re-read the exam material (from… -
Re: Just a rehash?
To be honest, the Server+ is geared up towards Servers, like the A+ is geared up towards PC and Network+ is geared up towards networks. I wouldn't say it was a rehash, rather an extension of where the others leave off. The Server+ covers areas that the MCSA/MCSE doesn't cover (and vice versa), they are both different certs… -
Re: Getting started with a career as a network analyst
Hello, Reading through your post I see your degree is somewhat related and somewhat not related at all. So overall it's good that you have it but you will need to build up on some IT concepts and knowledge of your own. I suggest starting with CompTIA A+ and Network+ material. Once you're comfortable with those I would… -
Re: resume critique?
People have seemed timid as of late with resume posts. IDK why. Anyway could you post up a formatted version of this in word or something? I ask because it we really cannot tell if the browser has caused formatting changes or not. A word doc would allow easier review. Off the bat, I would suggest breaking Education and… -
Re: Should recertify SSCP or go for CISSP?
Thanks all for the suggestions. I decided to buy the kindle version for casp and read that while traveling to-from work. Targeting CISSP then, will start with Shon Harris 7th edition. Last time I took CISSP was around 2013 and failed with 678. I just read Shon Harris, took a month to read it 2/3 times and went for exam. I… -
Re: Passed - 70-640
Comment by Ivanr4g63 · · Home› Certification Preparation› Microsoft› MCTS / MCITP on Windows 2008 GeneralI can see where you can feel disappointed on your score, but I think alot has to do with the way microsoft does their exams, and the way they formulate questions and scenarios. Congratulations on the Pass! and keep it up! at the end of the day is not if we pass the exam or not, is how you perform on the real world case… -
Re: Changing Careers: Certifications or Degree More Valuable?
I'll add some more detail that I left out of my original post for brevity. I don't have any professional IT experience, but I have been running my own linux web/mail/file servers for 10+ years. I understand servers and the command line doesn't intimidate me. I actually started my college career in computer engineering, but… -
Re: A Polite Observation...
As my nickname suggests, I am from Puerto Rico. I wouldn't know what to do with an IT book written in Spanish. Due to the fact that all software and hardware is in English it makes more sense for most of us to study English material as well as test in English. I would love to see a review from a hispanic country not… -
Re: Pointless degree in computer networking
Finish school...not doing that will only hurt your chances at making a decent living. Start reading the CompTIA A+ book, watch A+ videos on YouTube, find Professor Messer A+ videos too. If you have a job currently, save up and buy a used pc or get one at a garage sale to troubleshoot or learn how to reload OS's/Install… -
Re: Need Help With Finding A Job!
Sorry to hear about your recent situation that is really unfortunate. Someone had to fall on the sword and you were appointed for this honorable act. One thing I noticed on your resume is all your job efforts are REALLY short. I see you call them out with contractor, but for some companies that won't make a difference. In…
