Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
CompTIA's new renewal policy specifies that the reason for the expiration/renewal for A+, Network+ and Security+ is so these certs conform to ISO/IEC 17024, which is a requirement of DoD 8570.01-M. Anyone who needs A+, N+ or S+ to stay compliant with 8570.01 will still need to renew these cert regardless if they got them… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
That seems to be exactly the idea. Anything other than Network+, Security+, and A+ does not expire. If you go and take your Security+ this year it would renew all your CompTIA certifications for another three years the way I interpret it. I am sure we will understand better when we get the e-mail from them. -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
While I agree with you in part, the policy change is border line bait and switch. Many people, myself included, were only interested in Comptia certifications because they were considered lifetime certifications. We paid for and earned these certifications as lifetime expiration, and now in order to generate revenue their… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
I agree 100% with this statement. I personally don't want to see CompTIA go under, it would be bad for all of us. I'm also strongly against a lawsuit, I really think that this era of making a lawsuit for everything is ridiculous. I think this was a pathetically bad move, one that does upset me, but not to the point of… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
Huh.... I wonder if i can get a 45 million dollar deal to leave CompTIA? Seriously, I do get what you are saying, I must reiterate though, that I do believe that there were/are better ways to achieve the goal of increasing certification values without upsetting people. I think it was a bad move plain and simple. -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
I agree, I would not have entered into the program under the current conditions, I would surrender my Network+ and Security+ certifications for a full refund if CompTia want to stick to their new policy. dynamik I enjoy learning new and challenging things, not being endlessly tested on the entry level material. I plan to… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
I don't know. This whole thing is just bothering me a bit. The old bait and switch. I wish i had a copy of the agreements for those old exams, perhaps there would be a way to force them to keep their word. Either way, there is no way I will be going for CECs or retaking those exams. It is just to hard to focus on family,… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
Yeah, I agree, this should only affect new certifications done from 2010 onward. I think it's ridiculous that they're making people who got certifications prior to this new policy renew their certifications. I got A+ 11 years ago, and Network+ around 5 years ago. I have no plans to renew my CompTIA certs, and will focus on… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
You make some great points twodogs. I especially liked your point that many people with advanced level certs would simply let the CompTIA certifications expire. I'm sure CompTIA has thought about that, and I'd be interested in hearing their opinion about that issue. However, as you mention, these are entry-level certs. The… -
Re: CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy
It also provides value for the certification holder, it tells the employer that this person is staying up/has to stay up with the technology he is being certified in. Overall I don't think it is a bad thing. I am going to be calling CompTIA to make sure I understand how this whole continuing educational credits thing…
