Comment by universalfrost · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management Certificationscheck out the headfirst PMP book http://www.amazon.com/Head-First-Pmp-Brain-Friendly-Professional/dp/0596801912/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1324646984&sr=8-1 I have it and like it better than Rita's book, and easier to understand. Plus explained some sections of the PMBOK that I were making my brain hurt before. Also check out… -

Comment by erpadmin · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsSo sorry about the fail. This certification is on my to-do list, but starting graduate school next month and this month I'm trying to wrap up my MCITP:EA. If I were to gun for any certification in 2012, it would be the SQL Server 2008 Administrator and even then, I would have to see how I would study for it. I have people… -

Comment by universalfrost · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management Certificationsi just coughed up the $555 to take the PMP and just got my PMI eligibility ID...!!!!! as for the masters thing, I already have a masters in Information Systems Engineering and I keep seeing folks with MBA's in the same or higher positions as the one I am in. I just think to myself that they don't have a clue about the… -
Wish me luck Taking the PMP today at 12:30 central time
Discussion by N2IT · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsI've prepared for over 2 months averaging anywhere from 1 hour to 4 hours a day. Used the CBT Nuggets and then read Rita's PMP Exam Prep and barely touched the PMBOK. Maybe a total of a 100 pages 1/3 the book. Going back through a few formulas [variances, indexs etc]. Covering some of the knowledge area's I score low on.… -

Comment by erpadmin · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsI totally agree with this. I have always suspected that an exam such as the CISSP or the PMP would require way too much time to just prepare for; time that I would rather want to spend on my Masters or perhaps a MS cert or two (while MS certs can be difficult, nowhere near the level of the CISSP/PMP in terms of preparation… -

Comment by earweed · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsSorry to hear you didn't pass it. Although you may be discouraged about it right now, the PMP is one of those certs that will deinitely benefit you monetarily in the long run. Whether you decide to take it again or not I wish you the best in the future. -

Comment by forestgiant · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsYah I agree with your strategy. I took the SSCP first and it helped focus my CISSP time and test strategies a great deal. However I attempted the CAPM two years ago using the AiO book by Joseph Phillips, Sybex's, and a bunch of notes but still failed. The exam was very wordy so after two dozen questions I felt distracted… -

Comment by justanotherday · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsWay to get back up on the horse. It is frustrating not passing an exam. I know two people who took the PMP, one was a PM for 7 years and failed it and another took it 3 times and failed. It is one of the toughest exams from what I hear. It scares me so much I am just planning on doing the CAPM which hopefully is easier.… -

Comment by erpadmin · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsI wish you the best of luck N2!! You went through the exam once, you got the nervousness of failing out of the way, now you can sit back, study your butt off, and bring back a pass! Personally, I don't plan on reading the PMBOK from front to back like you are. I plan on using it when I need to reference something from a…
