Re: Calling all Penetration Testing with BackTrack (PWB)/OSCP students!
I've registered for the OSCP course and took an initial 30-day lab access (will extend as needed). I currently have 7 years of pentesting experience and really looking forward to see if that experience have much effect on going through this course and taking the exam challenge (probably not much!). Another thing I'd like… -

Re: Calling all Penetration Testing with BackTrack (PWB)/OSCP students!
Thanks for clearing that up guys. I wish I had time to get into pentesting at this level but my job seems to be following the voice path more each day. Maybe when these projects are done I can start doing some of my own auditing internally. Ive always wanted to learn python too! Best of luck to you guy in Jan! -
Re: Calling all Penetration Testing with BackTrack (PWB)/OSCP students!
Hhhmmm.... for me, the NP was easier as in I do Cisco security on a daily basis. That being said, it's a lot of studying. As for the OSCP, it will be tougher for me as pentesting is a smaller part of my daily job function and you're forbidden from using some tools on the exam that I rely on (MSF, Nexpose, etc.). Which I… -
Re: Calling all Penetration Testing with BackTrack (PWB)/OSCP students!
registered the exam last year but fail horribly. Stuck at the assembly topic and trying to improve the web pentest skill the moment. I will probably re-register the lab again on May or June and aiming to pwn all lab boxes. So far I only got one flag/password in the lab... Probably will go try again end of the year for the… -
Re: Calling all Penetration Testing with BackTrack (PWB)/OSCP students!
Sorry for the late feedback. Well, the_hutch is pretty much spot on. OSCE/CTP is more about buffer overflows and exploit development while OSCP/Pentesting with Backtrack is more about pentesting in general. OSCE is going to have you searching for "new" vulnerabilities of software by fuzzing. In OSCP, you need to identify… -
Re: Calling all Penetration Testing with BackTrack (PWB)/OSCP students!
Pretty much everything is on VMware Workstation (would work just as well on the free VMware Player option, I just prefer to access my VMs remotely). All of my windows stuff is fully licensed with my TechNet subscription. 1. Backtrack 5 R3 2. NodeZero - Another pentesting distro similar to backtrack (NodeZero Linux) 3. NST… -
Re: Calling all Penetration Testing with BackTrack (PWB)/OSCP students!
I just took the OSCP exam on Thursday (the 29th - 30th) and I got word on Saturday that I passed! To sum it up.... Going in I had my A+, Net+, Security+, and an MCP in WIn XP. I also hold a BIT in Computer Forensics. Now that being said I had little to no knowledge of Buffer Overflows or really pentesting of any kind. I…
