Re: Thoughts on CPP?
I've been looking at it for about a year and plan on taking it by the end of 2016 or on the first half of 2017. It's focused on protection of assets. If you plan to work in or with people who do executive protection, CCTV, access controls, investigations, manage guards, background checks and the like then it's worth it.… -
Re: Governance and Compliance
Look on LinkedIn or search for the term "GRC" (Governance, Risk, Compliance). Most people in that field have either Sec+ as a minimum or CISSP as a recommended and then the ISACA certifications like CISA, CGEIT, CRISC, CISM. Don't look at only the certifications though, for GRC it usually helps to have like you said… -
Re: Interested in IT Auditing/InfoSec
Well, you will begin to get the experience if they transition you to that role ...... Work there for 5 years and then you would qualify for the CISA.. You can take the exam early - i.e. prior to gaining the full experience... you have 5 years in which to make it up! Security+ may well be a good way to go, though I think… -
Re: Personality types and IT jobs?
It’s kind of scary how predictable people are according to these types. Psychology seems like an interesting field, I always wondered what the field would be like. There I go again on a tangent. I also have a very hard time staying on track between studying for the CISM, starting a business and being an officer in the… -
Re: I'm now an MCSE:Security
Congratulations on the pass. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if this is the full list of your passed exams you're still lacking 1 security exam. You definitely achieved your MCSE for Windows Server 2003, but for the MCSE:Security you need to take two security exams and from those you listed, only Security+ meets… -
Re: CISA - December 2010
Correction, The $120 was the CISM db. Called ISACA and they will refund. The correct cost for CISA is still $185. Thought I had a deal there ha ha. Agreed, it is all about learning the CISA culture. I just picked up the CISSP at the Sept test. 42+ years here with Infosec and procrastinated here for the longest time. Could… -
Getting Cyber Security job after doing busniess
Hi everyone, I am a new to this forum but my problem is a unique one (I guess) , I have been in IT industry for about 15 years , started as a network engineer in an ISP and left as a network administrator, but for the last 9 years I was working for a family owned business which is basically to sell technical gadgets online… -
Re: Which certifications did you let expire and why?
I let all my certs expire except for my CISSP. I've found no good reason to keep any of the others renewed. The (ISC)2 is a worthwhile organization to retain membership in, and my employers does pay for my (ISC)2 Annual Maintenance Fee. One day, I may also feel the same way about ISACA if I ever buckle-down and get my… -
Re: Good Opportunity - Build a team of high school hackers
Indeed. I'm just glad I got approved for the reimbursement because I don't have the funds to pay for the 90 day option (which is how long I think I'll need at a minimum) and be able to quickly move on to the next cert, which would be CISM if I can complete the OSCP by September. That way I'd have three solid months to… -
Re: When did you move out of Desktop Support/Help Desk?
I've done Desktop, Helpdesk / Service Desk, Desktop Engineer, Systems Administrator, Systems Engineer over the years. To make systems administrator or engineer, you typically need one or more of the following: RHCSA, RHCSE, MCSA, MCSE, MCP (Installing, configuring, maintaining Windows...blahblahblah), CISSP, CISA, CISM,…
