Re: Passed JNCIA JNO-102
From a Juniper standpoint; I want to work with the SRX220 and get comfortable with JUNOS OS. I'm hoping with the JNCIA and some labbing with the SRX220; I can show employers exposure to Juniper if/when I decide to move from my current position. I'm actually debating between Linux+ and Security+. My end goal is getting my… -
Re: ِadvise What next after MCSE?!!
IIWY I'd look into other MCSE certs, ones you are interested of course. VMware would be good certs to have but I have a feeling hyper-v is starting to take over in the windows server space and for good reason. Depending on where you are, $100K is comfortable or a lot. In the midwest I don't see many MCSE openings paying… -
Re: Hands-on experience / Lab for Network+
Slowhand, have you seen the CISSP or CISA curriculum? You are physically not able to have experience with all the domains you are tested on. Btw. what about guys who want to gain knowledge about new area? They do learn about something unknown, otherwise they won't get a job in the area. I suppose it's a bit unjust. You can… -
Re: New to IT and in need of some direction
Hmm, well, I always say start out with your A+ and try getting your foot in the door somewhere to get the experience. As for the CCIE and CISSP, yes, those are nice certifications but you'll need years of real world experience to go along with them. I'd go with your A+, Net+ and Sec+ to get a good foundation going.… -
Re: CCIE Voice or CCIE Wireless
I thought about it but where I Live, there is no value for CWNP Certs. Companies here would prefer guys with Cisco Wireless Certs over guys with CWNP Certs. My CWSP is going to expire next year in February and I don't think I will renew it. There is no point and I will just waste money and time for nothing in return. CISSP… -
Re: Military guy looking for some advice
I cannot offer you much advice you answer your question, however, I can tell you that you are not alone. I am getting out of the army in about 22 months and currently have CCNP, CCNA, and A+ with plans for SEC+ and CISSP before i get out. I also will finish my bachelors in MIS next spring. My advice is to try to get a… -
Re: The Sorry State Of IT Education
I feel there were some vast generalizations in this article. ''Out of that challenge evolved two new training tracks'' but in those didnt mention people with other jobs or perhaps a lower tier job who self study. I am very new to IT, but believe the higher level pro's that hold certifications like GIAC GSE, CISSP, and CISM… -
Re: 083-640 - DOA... agin..
Comment by mrmcmint · · Home› Certification Preparation› Microsoft› MCTS / MCITP on Windows 2008 GeneralAgreed - My local testing center pc's are awful too... I think they are GX260's as well. I was always under the impression that testing centres would be kind of nice places, the places I have been look like they have been thrown together in 10 minutes with a couple of children painting the walls. Roll on to the days when I… -
Re: Study Update, Progress and Tips!
Perfect, as long as I get the score card with my weak areas that will be just fine. Forgot to mention one other thing that I did in prep for the CISSP. Booked a hotel room 5 minutes from the testing center. Not dealing with downtown Toronto traffic on a Friday 8AM exam start time. This exam is tough on mental stamina, a… -
Re: CCNP Security expenses
Well, I am more concerned with security field. And you voiced my reservations about CCNP Security. Indeed, where are the jobs with CCNP Se as a requirement? Security positions are requiring stuff like CISSP and other smaller certificates. I am getting more and more convinced to go OSCP and maybe CCNP route. Also, one more…
