Re: SANS recommendation
How about SEC566? I haven't done it, check it out: https://www.sans.org/course/implementing-auditing-critical-security-controls you have eJPT, how about expanding your offensive knowledge with GPEN? I found GPEN to be easy after eJPT though. How's your knowledge in incident handling? GCIH or GCFA could be an asset. You've… -
Re: CISSP Testing Engines
Apps I bought so far and see many people attribute value to are: 1. Laurie Hocking CISSP iOS app and Flash card, both cost me $20.00 dollars, like 10bucks each. 2. Official CISSP Testing app by Sybex - 1300 QUESTIONS and it cost $10 3. CISSP App by Pocketprep, I used them for CISM exam and it has high value and it cost me… -

Re: B.S. Cyber Security degrees
I would not recommend for a Bachelor degree in Cyber Security at all. You need to stick with Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Information Technology. Using the Cyber Security as a minor within Computer Science or Information Technology. It is easy to maneuver in the IT field, except when you are going for… -
Re: CASP Beta Results Out
Which is why I doubt that it will obtain the same recognition as the CISSP (less theory, more vendor specific/technical aspects)--in the short term. The two information security heavyweights, (ISC)2 and ISACA, have established their market value proposition for their certification offerings. CompTIA's marketing team has… -
Re: Career Advice Needed.....Por Favor...all opinions welcomed..
Well, your situation looks like mine... I work as a IT consultant but I have a degree in BA. So... what to do? Started with CompTIA.... now MS... Then Cisco... Then CISM CISA then CISSP... Then CWNP... LPI... And everything I can. Why? Because I want, I can and finally... I don't want any stupid CIO thinking that I know… -
Re: So what certs am I missing?
CISSP, CISA and CISM are pretty much asked for everywhere, so keep them on your to-do list. If you're into the "soft" side of security, I recommend adding some more auditing stuff to your arsenal - for example BS7799. I don't see why doing SSCP when CISSP is also on your list? Cisco and Checkpoint are also used everywhere,… -
Re: Are certifications still taken seriously these days?
It depends on the certificate and the employer. Be smart, if you're working with a partner (Cisco partner, MS partner, Sun partner, IBM partner..etc), then your certifications are important for their partnership. Also, any certification with LAB is respected, and the certifications that you can't **** are also respected… -
Re: CISSP -- Certification Should i go for it
It proves you passed a test. Knowledge is gained by experience. just because CISSP may be listed as a requirement on a job doesn't mean you can walk into a hiring managers office and not actually have ever implemented anything you're talking about. It would be a very short interview if you were one of my candidates. I want… -
Re: How did you get into security?
Was doing sysadmin and app development for a while. Then websites around got defaced and security analysts started throwing VA/PT reports, IPS alert reports and other security advisories at me. These "experts" do not understand the contents of their reports. Explaining to them that a flagged vulnerability was a false…
