Re: Its happening! CCNP here I go...
I think about this thread weekly. I hate starting something and not finishing it, but the honest truth is I have to be flexible (because "rigid" will break). When I started this thread I thought the only way to progress in the direction I wanted was to keep working towards CCN* and learn/earn my way up. I am about 1 year… -
Re: Best/Cheap/Easiest Biz/IT Certifications that don't expire
An organization's choice of making certifications expire is largely due to ISO. In order to be "approved" for world-wide recognition, recertification is a requirement. However, since CompTIA is vendor-neutral, they provide an easy way to recertify by getting other vendor certs. For example, getting your CCNA or higher will… -
Re: I am new here.
I like it a lot. A majority of the courses have some interest to me, so that definitely helps. I had to provide at least five years of experience, but I don't know if that is a hard requirement for the MS IT Management program or not. With having the ITIL and VCP I'm sure that won't be an issue for you. I decided on the MS… -
Re: Need to obtain my CASP this year, but have no experience
As a recently minted CASP, I'll give my tuppence: you need at least some networking and server OS knowledge, along with a smattering of business knowledge, IT governance, development and service lifecycle stuff and project management. This is far easier to get through work experience, since a lot you will 'just acquire'… -
Re: Is network+ before security + worth it?
If your goal is to get a CCNA , then I would not pursue the NET+ Networking fundamentals are needed for any security role and you will find having net fundamentals will make your life easier while studying security certifications. CCNA is a harder exam than the security+, so taking the harder exam before security+ is a… -
Re: VCP-DVC eligibility
Actually, I assume VITA is the academic institution, I talked with them and they told me that I need to apply to discount voucher when I pay my exam on Pearson VUE and that way VMware will know that I have taken the exam. So in sense, the discount code is your proove, as apparently that discount apply for academic training… -
Re: Infosec Groups and hands-on experience
That's exactly what he sounded like (molding minds). He didn't seem overly arrogant or contrived in any way, so I thought it was a good thing for me at least. I'll have to look at HTCIA and see how that looks. The most interesting website he gave me was a Defcon group around here. Seemed like to be the best amount of… -
Could Use Some Advise
I'm planning to join the USAF (Air Force) within the next 3-6 months. I currently hold a (nearly worthless) CNS degree from ITT Tech, and no certs. From what I have retained and learned on my own I estimate that I am likely at the knowledge equivalent of possessing a Network+ from CompTIA (would have to do a little… -
Pass CHFIv9 - Review inside
Greetings everyone. Been a while since I've sat a test. Let me begin by stating that my employer paid for this certification course and I would not have paid for it myself if I had that choice. That being said, I spent the week in class with the EC-Council materials and an instructor. The EC-Council training materials were… -
Greetings // Certification path question
Hey there everyone. I just joined, names Justin. Wanted to introduce myself, give some of my background and then pose my question. I'm 34 and have been working in the IT field for the past 16 years. For the last 9 I have worked as a Network Specialist for the local Police and Fire departments. I studied for A+ early in my…
