Re: Approaching InfoSec with a Business Background
I would highly recommend the following certs: CISA, for IT auditing. CRISC, for IT risks. CISSP, once you have 5 years exp. And in your case, if you have the CPA, you should look into getting the CITP, as you need a CPA to get that. The CITP Credential Start with the CISA though, that would be your best bet. Unless, of… -
Re: IAPP CIPP/US Review
Can't speak specifically about ambiguous questions, let's just say the answers didn't line up with the question at all (see my example, above). If you're looking for more non-technical certification-based training that could apply to privacy, I'd steer you towards ISACA land. CRISC & CISM directly align with the CIPM. SANS… -
Re: SSCP - Lack of love
The problem isn't the certification per se, it's the organization. ISC is almost a non-existent organization outside of the CISSP. It's just not relevant in comparison to San's and GIAC certs or ISACA and CISA/CRISC. The latter two are constantly evolving and widely available per region as they have regional chapters. ISC… -
Re: CISSP Failed 3x
@otsill2 - I Want to say a Big Congratulations again for not totally giving up after the first two fails and gave a third try, you lotsill2 are the REAL MVP, not the guys clearing the exams, you who has tried three times. My very candid professional advice would be, go sit for ISACA CISM and CRISC Exam, that would prepare… -
Where to After CISSP?
While I'm definitely taking the weekend off I definitely want to keep rolling along so not to lose any momentum. With that, where should one proceed after the CISSP? Obviously, interest is important and I'm pretty sure I know where I'd like to head. I do a lot of compliance and investigative work for a living. My Masters… -

Re: C|CISO Passed 11/15/17
@jumblerr, we met again. Congratulations bro, a job well done. Did you take the Exam through ProctorU online Proctoring? How much is the voucher? What study material did you make use of? How much of study time? How did you qualify to sit for the exam, I mean the whole process. I have been looking to write this Exam after… -
Re: Company has concerns about job jumps
Sorry to hear about that. I feel like my company feels the same way. I have more professional certs than my entire team (my manager doesn't even have any Professional Security certs), and I am the guy at the bottom of the ORG in my department (InfoSec). When my ISO stayed silent about endorsing me if I took the CRISC exam… -
Re: ISACA Study Materials
The ISACA materials are aboslutely very helpful if you happen to suffer from insomnia. It's a lot safer than taking prescriptive medication and has no addictive effects. But if you are asking if they are helpful for passing the exams... When I sat for the CISM and CRISC, I only used the ISACA materials - I found the Q&A… -
Re: CISA - CISSP Overlap
Go through the Database of questions and understand the concepts. If you find that the security portion is not an issue you can skip, but no harm in passing over the questions to give you a flavour of the exam. I personally would recommend for you to go over all the questions if you can and understand the right/wrong…
