It depends on what field you are working in. For InfoSec and privacy, there is a lot of information that can't go beyond the borders of the US or EU, so locals are always required. The way more and more privacy regulations are being created the more localized/compartmentalized/controlled information will become. -

Your privacy designations ringed a bell and the ISACA Privacy Engineer certification came to mind that has the more technical aspect of privacy. I would recommend to see how much you can cut down on the 5 years requirement for the CISSP based on your educational experience perhaps. Otherwise the CISM is a great stepping… -
