Re: Finished WGU BS-IT my experience
Thanks everyone! To answer Gel's question, no, I will not at this time. I thought for a long time my career path would be to a developer but right now that's not the case. I had the opportunity to work on an online banking conversion this last year and with that had a lot more exposure to both the IT Security and software… -
Re: 3 possible career directions.
I'm not sure if this is for enlisted, officer, or both... but this should be a rough outline of the technical trianing that you will go through if selected for the 17 CMF: •Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) •Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) •Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) •Cisco… -
Re: RHCT/RHCE Exam CHANGES!!
Received my RHCSA by email yesterday. I use the certification number to look it up and it shows that they applied the expiration period retroactively to my original exam not when I was issued this cert. This is fine but a little frustrating because it cuts at least one year off my re-certification time. Guess I am planning… -
Re: College vs MCITP
Comment by powerfool · · Home› Certification Preparation› Microsoft› MCTS / MCITP on Windows 2008 GeneralYep, don't think there is a valid debate on the topic of Certifications vs. Higher Education. They complement each other and should be used together if you are serious about your career. In my situation, I already have a BS in Information Systems and several great industry leading certifications, including the highest… -
Re: DoD 8570 Clarification
Short answer: Just one... except CNDSP. Long answer: - For IAT and IAM: You need (at a minimum) one cert that is at the level (or higher than) the job requires. Therefore, a person with CISSP alone qualifies for any IAT I-III or IAM I-III position. - For IASAE: You must have (at a minimum) one cert that is at the level the… -
Re: GCIA Pass and Practice Exam
ipchains, Thanks! That's a nice collection of SANS certs you have there. Any plans for the GSE? I really wanted to do better but I'll take the pass. Had I gone into the exam without having read through these forums I would have been in trouble. Next up for me is the SANS GISP at the beginning of October and then the CISSP… -
Re: Network engineering question
I can't comment much on the material above CCNA. I have to get this CISSP out of the way before I can get back to learning anything useful.....sigh. Regarding voice and security, our environment is so large that we have dedicated teams for network, security, and voip. So, the value of getting into the other areas may… -
Re: How to get here?
Thanks for the confidence booster bud, you make a good point. I'm just looking to sharpen my skills even more. I'm real familiar with Palo Alto firewalls, since I'm on them daily. There's a lot that I don't get to see at my company. We looked into deploying a SIEM, but management pulled the plug, since they didn't feel we… -
Re: Computer Forensics Certifications
The forensics side of the house has been forever neglected by non-law enforcement since the beginning. Yet, I find myself using more and more forensic tools and techniques recently than in any time in the past. As in I have done more forensic examinations in the past year than I have the past 15 years prior. ISFCE… -
Re: Understanding the VMWare Cert Structure
Good luck on this path! I am VCP since vSphere 3.5, and I had to renew for version 4, 5. Then VMware change their policy that now you update each 2 years and not at each major version, so I had to renew on 5.5. Now 2 years later, in January, I renewed on version 6. Every renewal, it is a mandatory 2-3 month of study and…
