Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS)
I obtained the CompTIA A+ Certification in October but wasn't able to find a job in the IT field. It seems that I either need to own a car to drive from location to location or I need to learn Microsoft Office in order to get a Help Desk job. I was told here that I may not be able to find a job unless I get my GED. So I… -
Job Out of High School
Hey! I'm new to these forums. Today, in my I.T. class at school I stumbled upon this place from Reddit. Since I can't check my email in class, I couldn't post on here till now. Anyways, on to it, eh? The I.T. class that I'm in at my school is, more or less, a waste of three years. I have several certifications (MTA… -
Finally Passed the A+ Exam!
Hey guys, I have been a member of this website for a while now and I wanted to share my experience taking the A+ certification. I originally used the Mike Meyers passport book to study but I also used a website called cybrary.it that has a bunch of free online videos to watch. I joined a IT training program called… -
Certs to College Credit
Okay guys I am really close to finishing my BSIT Network Management focus at Excelsior College. Excelsior will convert certs to college credit, the only problem is that they don't release a list of what certs count for what classes. Usually, you complete a cert and then you submit it and they will evaluate it and let you… -
Re: Quick question.
I definately wouldn't lie about it. In 90% of cases, employers will take your word on A+, but there are the few that do want you to publish your certification to them, or ask for your CompTIA card. Not to mention, should you ever let it slip that you lied, your employer's confidence in you will drop through the basement.… -
Re: Is this your typical IT degree?
Looks like an excellent program. My main advice is to look into entering a coop program or internship opportunities while going to school for some real world experience. With that program under your belt and if you maintain high grades you will do well. I don't really see many IT certifications that match up to your… -
Re: getting a job without experience
pretty much all IT ppl start up with helpdesk role. My short term goal too, right now since I am in a helpdesk role, gain the experience from there, along with slowly building up the certs. I wouldn't go for CCNA or CCNP right away. There are many people in helpdesk role actually have those, but they are not working in a… -
Re: So Excited! Seeking Advice!
Oh, and the CompTIA certs are usually good for 3 years, and then higher certs often renew lower certs. So A+ is good for 3 years from the date you pass the exam. And then if you pass Net+, that renews A+ also, so then both Net+ and A+ expire 3 years from when you passed Net+. Sec+ does the same, 3 years and renews both… -
Re: Cybersecurity Master's vs. OSCP
If you have a degree in Information Systems from an accredited university you should've taken courses in programming, database, and networking. That, together with a Security+ certification, is enough educational base to break into the cybersecurity field, which seems to be your stated goal. Aiming for a Masters Degree or… -
Re: MCSA: Windows Server 2008
Comment by unfbilly11 · · Home› Certification Preparation› Microsoft› MCTS / MCITP on Windows 2008 GeneralDon't be too discouraged by my post earlier when I said I failed the 70-640 for the 3rd time. The first time I was woefully underprepared (I had only taken CompTIA tests up till then and Microsoft is a lot different). The 2nd time was only 3 weeks later and I didn't feel ready. My boss wanted me to take it to see if I had…
