Re: Where are all the people?
I too appreciate your concern, but quite frankly a post like this is not really helpful as it may give the wrong impression to new visitors. Most of us are here every day. And the forums in general are far from 'slow', we receive about 120,000 visitors per month and growing as always. We still get 100-200 new members per… -
Re: Career path changes
Network+ is the next logical step for CompTIA certs. I have never seen any noise made about Server+, so I would skip it. If I were you I would rub some elbows with the Admins and ask them what certifications are valued for your company (Microsoft, Cisco, etc) In the meantime studying for Network+ would certainly help you.… -
Re: Studying the Meyers book??
some say the best way to study is to read the book through once and to make your notes on the second reading. i would suggest that you take as much time as possible to study, rather than aiming for a date to take your exams that is too close. when you think you have most of the book (or books) digested, you should download… -
Re: Which way to A+??
when i opened my a+ books for the first time i felt so overwhelmed by what i had to learn. but as you read some you learn some. a+, in my opinion, is not worth taking bootcamps and the like. think of it as a computer tech apprenticeship. spend as long at it as you need. comptia have aimed the exam at techs with six months… -
Re: How can I get experience, I'm 16.
Hey Hi.. :) A+, Network+ and Security+ are all great certs. You probably know that if you get those certs before Jan 01, 2011 they will be good for life. CompTIA is putting a 3 month expiration date on them after Dec 31 2010 because of ANSI requirements. A retail tech bench like BestBuy, ECT.. is great to get your foot in… -

Re: How much log analysis is there on the CSA+?
I took the CSA+ beta last Summer. While there is no doubt that having studied for Security+ will probably enhance one's chances of studying "less" for CSA+ - and when I say "less" I mean "less than someone who has never studied for, nor taken, Security+ - I would not be so bold to say that CSA+ requires "minimal" study if… -
Re: +_+_DO NOT BEND_+_+
Just get a larger mailbox. USPS is one pretty tough job. Yeah, overall it's 'easy' work, but the psychology of 'NEVER' having an ending point of ones work is very stressful. No matter how efficiently a person works....there will be more mail to sort and deliver. Also, there isn't another industry that handles the volume of… -
Re: Advice on re certifying in A+ or something else like N+ or Win7...
Don't do your A+. Since you got it in 2007, it's good for life. If you recert the A+, you'll have to keep up w/ it. If you want to check out the new objectives, maybe get a recent coy of the A+ Exam Cram and leaf thru it. Or better yet. maybe a book like: Upgrading and Repairing PCs (21st Edition): Scott Mueller:… -

Comment by Tackle · · Home› Certification Preparation› Microsoft› MCTS / MCITP on Windows 2008 GeneralI used Testout Labsim and read a TON of technet articles....I failed it my first time, but passed a couple weeks later. I had no formal Server expierence before I started studying (Besides what they teach you in school...which is nothing compared to the "real world"). I studied off and on for 6 months. I figured out my…
