Re: Best study methods?
I used CompTIA Network+ All-in-One Exam Guide 4th Edition by Mike Meyers as my sole source of study for this exam. I also bought the exam voucher and practice test from his website (which ended up costing about the same as a full price voucher). I was able to comfortably pass the exam the first time using just the book and… -
Re: Noob Has A question
A+ is very broadly based. The exam questions that you end up with at the COMPtia exam will be based on "the luck of the draw" type of situation. You need everything that is in Meyers's book, and I wouldn't recommend that anyone without solid experience(or even with it) rely on only one exam guide. The info in AIO is solid… -
Re: Is this cert worth getting?
In my mind, the Linux+ certification has always been worth if for someone just getting into *NIX, and this is especially true now that it's been revamped to be identical to LPI's LPIC-1 tests. Incidentally, you can earn LPIC-1 by taking the current version of Linux+, you just have to make sure you notify LPI afterwards.… -
Re: Another exam or wait help please :)
Yep ITIL would look good on the CV. You may want to start looking into the Cisco routes like CCNA to balance out all the server knowledge you have, with networking knowledge. That is what I am looking to do when I get my MCITP. I know these certs don't come overnight and are not short term but I think with your server… -
Re: Great job opportunities in NYC, made a mistake
I learned a lesson from one interview I went on. 1. When looking for a job refresh your memory with some recent CompTIA books. (Network+, Security+) I am serious. There are things you are just used to doing and that are so basic you get tripped up on simple crap. I went on one interview and did awesome on the security… -
Re: Should I pursue A+?
Skip the A+. I heavily attribute my entry into the IT field to getting my A+. However, you not only have 5 years of help desk experience, you have networking experience. Your foot is already in the door.. and the rest of your leg too. And unless you want to move backwards towards working on fixing computers or going back… -
Re: SANS extension fee
I went to SANs New Orleans in Jan/Feb (don’t remember) and took 504 Intrusion Analysis. Though the course was great and worth the almost 5,000 my company shelled out +room/board to send me. There was a lot of material and it was well represented in the book. The exam was surely alot different from Comptia's or CCNA and… -
Re: seeking advice and direction
If your ready to go for your CCNA depends on your networking knowledge. Can you subnet? Have you ever worked with a cisco switch or router? If the answer to either of those questions is yes, then working toward your CCENT or CCNA as your first cert makes sense. The Network+ has more questions about cabling, so that might… -
Re: My Head!
Yes i did check the Publisher's Website and so far didn't find any hint about correction. It's Sybex Network+ 4Th Edition. I, also, don't know if CompTIA will be that sticky in questioning, but the best i can do here is, for sure, to follow what Novell Netware's site is stating, its their own NDS anyway. Luck will never… -
Re: best site to buy a 70-680 voucher
k. got it. thanks for your help. I was hoping I could buy the voucher and hang on to it (like you can with a CompTIA voucher) without actually having to set a exam date yet, but that does not seem to be the case, because I was planning to be prepared and ready to take it on the 18th of Jan, but I do not feel confident yet…
