Re: Asymmetric Key vs Symmetric Key
Interesting article... would have also been interesting to see results for an asymmetric algorithm used for bulk encryption, since they were writing their own implementations anyway. knwminus: Since you mentioned you have the CCNA:S Exam Cert Guide, on pages 443-444 it talks briefly about symmetric vs asymmetric… -
Re: Cert path advice?
I would suggest that if you are already planning to complete your MCSE and planning on getting the Security+ in this year (wise considering CompTIA's policy on the Continuing Education requirement for A+, Net+ & Sec+ beginning in 2011) that you additionally go for the MCSE:Security cert as it at least puts you up one step… -
Re: Basic Network+ Questions
Unless you check places (search this site [General] for info) that give discounts, then you WILL pay the CompTIA full-price (THEY set the $$) of $207. You should get A+ also - or does your school give these tests at the end? They get 646-840+ (whatever it is) (remember SAT? they go to 1600) by their own methods. You will… -
Re: Gain certification's , what type of cert ? and then what !
First of all, I'm a student and I'm pretty new into the whole certification myself also. But the way I see it is that certification shows that you're willing to put effort, you're not just an ID number, whether it's in school, or in a workplace. For myself, I would like to go into the network industry and seek a job… -
Re: New to the board Looking for advice
I don't agree that there are more negatives than there are positives in getting a cert like MCSE without much experience to go with it. While you present some valid points, I feel that if a candidate is able to get MCSE without experience (but with hands on training and much hard work), hats off to them. I can say first… -
Re: Things I need to study before taking the A+
Pretty safe bet you won't need any information about Atari for your exams. As for the rest of your background, impressive, but not a lot of that material is covered in the objectives either. That is not to say you won't pick up the information quickly, but you really would be best served by using a copy of the objectives.… -
Re: Brocade/BCNE anyone?
I think it is just a case of how many vendors can one support. TE mostly revolves around CompTIA, Microsoft, security and the quickly growing world of virtualization including whatever the "cloud" eventually becomes. For networking the members interest seem to be predominately Cisco with a growing following for Juniper.… -
Re: I failed the 702, need help or guidance
Well one of the things that got me on the Bridge exam was I couldn't quite remember exactly what tab virtual memory was on. It's right click My Computer, Properties, Advanced System settings. CompTIA was tricky in asking you a question. I think they might have gave me 2 answers that were very similar. Make sure you… -
Re: Recommendations for certications or education path
Working from home can involve entry-level support stuff to almost anything administratively (servers, networks, etc) if work allows you to VPN in. That, or you can work as a developer from home. It all depends on your existing knowledge and experience and motivation/discipline to learn things on your own. The best… -
Re: Questions regarding certification tracks
If you have a reasonable amount of experience in PC troubleshooting and repair, you may just want to go to work on MCSA OR MCSE--and that depends on whether you want to work at maintaining systems or designing them. Also consider the security specialization associated with the M$ certs. Security is where the emphasis is…
