Re: Passed n10-006
Hi, thanks so much for your comments, I used a lot of resources to prepare as this is my 2nd attempt it at. I used Mike meyers all in one, exam cram, Mike meyers totalsem simulator and practice questions which I find a lot simple compared to the exam, it's still a very good resource to prepare. I also went through… -
Re: CyberSecurity Student question about certs
I'm guessing you have a security clearance, given your military background. That's worth a lot right there. A lot of DoD jobs want people to have a security clearance and the CompTIA Security+ cert: https://certification.comptia.org/certifications/security So if you have just those two things, you can probably get a foot… -
Re: Seeking Entry into InfoSec
A+ is a HUGE achievement - it's not an easy exam. Take pride on that accomplishment once you finish. You then have to to decide on either Networking (or at least get familiarity with it) and then go for your Security+ certification. Try Google and search for Free Technical courses taught at different colleges/universities.… -
Re: Failed 70-685 today score 547
I feel you, got a 554. Cramming and labbing now while the test is still fresh in my head, though I know the questions will mostly be different. I found the CBT Nuggets videos to be a good refresher on the technologies, but don't use it as your only form of study as it is very broad. The MS Press book is more in depth, but… -
Re: Just passed CEH and eyeing Sec+. Suggestions?
@=renacido Sec+ might be the most common, but what matters is what is asked for in the roles you are looking at. For example, most jobs asking for CISSP won't care about Security+. I am seeing GIAC mentioned more in Info Sec, alongside CISSP. CHFI occasionally. Alongside CEH, I see maybe the other Penetration Tester… -
Re: CEH Journey kMastaflash's tale
Well, I am 3/4 of the day done with the material for the CEH exam! I am on Chapter 7 of the Matt Walker book. I am splitting up the reading over the weekend doing 1 chapter on Sat and 1 on Sunday (basically no life on the weekends). But in the end, it will all be worth it. I am understanding the concepts for the most part… -
Re: Network Admin question
OP, A couple years experience and a CCNA is a good start to getting a network admin job. You may need to do some NOC work first. The MCSA is advantageous because a lot of jobs are hybrid roles that require some skill with Windows and virtualization environments. I have two interviews for engineer positions next week that… -
Passed N10-006
I passed but barely. Scored a 730 and ran out of time with 2 sims partially unfinished. I prioritized the non-sim questions so I did those first and then came back to the sims at the end. I must say the experience was kind of humbling and I was a bit let down. I really felt like I knew my stuff going in and seeing… -
Re: What certifications to get?
I have a feeling we're both in our 30s. I work with someone who is one year older than me and still in helpdesk, though he worked his way up to a senior help desk role. Some people either just like it or are extremely comfortable with it and honestly, there is nothing wrong with that. The fact that you want to seek… -
Re: 70-640 - Fail
Comment by theodoxa · · Home› Certification Preparation› Microsoft› MCTS / MCITP on Windows 2008 General"Are Cisco or CompTia test curriculums more fair and sane, or is it more of the same?" Microsoft are the only tests I've ever failed. I passed my CompTIA A+, Novell CNA (NetWare 5), and CIW (Web Foundations Associate) all on the first try and in most cases with flying colors. I failed Windows 2000 Pro. the first time I…
