Re: Does it ever "annoy" you that recruiting agencies exist?
As a former recruiter many moons ago, I can weigh in on some of these things. Most recruiters work on a draw against commission, so it is in THEIR best interest to have as many people working temp, temp to perm as possible to help cover that draw every two weeks. They never want to go in the hole and owe the company money.… -
Re: Salaries Raises
Obviously any raise must be earned. But, assuming the current job experience adds value and the candidate is studying for and earning additional certifications and degrees, I would say 5% should be seen as a minimum for most IT professionals. Keep in mind, the raises drop off as you near a cap. CCIEs aren't going to see… -
Re: Boss dislike me?
Your performance should never be primarily motivated by possible opportunities of growth within a company, because when you hit salary caps and such you stop caring. There will be no particular moment in life where you will be like "Ah Huh! I have made it, my life is all set!" Even if your a billionaire or married your… -
Re: My new rack! - Pics of Old vs New rack check out!
I bought the 16u Skele and I love the rack as it fits perfectly under my desk (once I raised it by a foot). The only one thing that really annoyed me was the cheap cage nuts that came with it. Cage nuts are a pain in the a** to put in at the best of times... ( I have the old screwdriver scars to prove this fact) However,… -
Re: Tech Skills Matter in Security
BTW it's hard to cover all the angles I agree, any staff especially contracting staff are at risk. Hell even when the final quarter financials are out they can be released (they being the company) can let go of staff to get their operating cost under budget. Again just my experience, what ends up happening is the… -

Re: Another critique my resume thread
Okay... So here is what you put in that first section: And how I would change it in bold... IT Consultant (7/2012 - 12/2012) Support users on-site as well as remotely throughout several locations Incident isolation and remediation utilizing remote client support tools Identify and implement new technologies to align… -
Re: Anyone upset by this mornings news? Net neutrality gone...
It happened before and it will happen again. Some of us went from dial up internet that was charged by the hour/minute to a "unlimited model". Then we had data plans for mobile that was by the minute, unlimited to gain subscribers and then to data caps. Companies rely on tiered plans so they can charge more money for those… -
Finally Caught a Break...
Well guys, I think I finally broke into the IT world. Started working at Staples as on Onsite Resident Technician last November, and while the job was fun, I hit a learning cap very quickly. On Monday I start a real job. I'll be working help desk for a company that designs insurance software and provides IT solutions to… -
Staggered vApp Startup question
Hey guys, So the VCP exam is on Wednesday of next week and I'm playing around with the lab and I've got a general best practice kind of question. So I have a vApp which lets just say has an allocation of 8000 MHz CPU and 12 GB's of RAM inside of that is two Resource pools (each pool has 3000Mhz limit with 1300MHz per…
