To those feeling frustrated about not being able to move on to that new shiny job (whatever that dream is for you), just be patient. It will happen if you are hard working, professional and not willing to stay ignorant.
I just accepted a position as a Security Analyst. I will be working with R&S, servers, firewalls, and APs. I'm thrilled beyond belief and the best part is that I will be able to stay in the Greenville area.
I want to thank everyone here at TE for their support and to a certain TE member who helped me clean up my resume.

Do you feel that staying in the GSP metro area was a detriment to you finding the "shiny new position", or was it just a matter of finding the right fit?IT guy since 12/00
Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands... -
veritas_libertas Member Posts: 5,746 ■■■■■■■■■■It certainly held back my options. If I had wanted to move up quicker I could have gone to Columbia or Charlotte. I was getting ready to interview in Columbia when I received the offer letter. I'm relieved that I don't have to travel that far to move in to networking/security. My current commute will be 30 to 45 mins depending when I leave and what the weather is like.
I like the Greenville area. It's family friendly, the cost of living is low and it's growing rapidly. -
