Re: Connecting Remotely to my CCNA Lab
If I recall, 2500 and 1700's do not support SSH, such including your 2511 access server. So if you with to secure your communications to your lab remotely then you'd have to setup a vpn then connect to the lab via telnet while vpn'd into a network. Or you can buy a NM-16A and use a 2600 router with a security feature set… -
Re: Has anyone taken the new CCNA exam?
If you study all the topics for the 801 (without ISDN, IGRP and RIP v1) and add in Wireless, some security (like configuring SSH, and how to restrict telnet connections to a router, etc.) and configuring a router as a DHCP server you should be ok. Although it may be overkill, the SNRS book from the CCSP covers all of the… -
Re: Questiong About Listing Certs on a Resume
My signature needs to be updated...not planning to take the 70-297 any longer since I took the 70-298. I did send my Security+ to MS and is included as part of my MCSA. Once I complete my MCSE, I believe all I will need is one more security exam to get that specialization if I choose to...so it may be worth going that… -
Re: On my way to $0.00 debt, help needed
You're going to have a hard time without any credit history. You should get a credit card that has a small maximum, or look into a secured credit card. The latter option requires you to provide the money up front to "secure" the card. It's a great way to build a credit history, and you're never in debt. Anyone who doesn't… -
Re: Cut it close but passed 640-554
Going to relax for a few weeks during the holidays. I might take a break from Cisco and do the VCP since my work has already sent me to the required and expensive class. I am going to get the CCNP Secure book since it has some good material to know, but I am not sure if I am going to go down the CCNP Security route or not. -
Re: Honest opinion, am I ready?
What did you do prior to your security manager position because even if you are granted a waiver for security+ you appear to be 6 months short. You can attempt the exam, but if your experience is short they might only grant you the ISC2 associate designation until you get the experience needed for the full CISSP. I think… -

Re: 70-680 or 70-685 or ccna?
As a Desktop Engineer, I can say you can't really go wrong with doing MCSA, MCSE or CCNA or Security certs. However, unless you are bad ass at Desktop or Server you are better off going Cisco Cert or Security if you wish to make the most money. For me I like desktop for being able to design and getting to walk around and… -
Re: No wonder wireless struggles to take off!
The sheer increase of knowledge of wireless networks and wireless network security I've seen in these forums of the past several years alone shows wireless will remain on the uprise and I'm sure it will eventually start getting a better rep in terms of security. Eventually every IT pro involved with networks will have to…
