Looking for Advice/Thoughts on where I stand
Hi all, New to the forum but been lurking and reading for a few weeks now. I am in the Air Force, 18yrs+ MSgt. I am a 3D1X1 which is a Client Services type, mainly helpdesk, VoIP etc. Since I'm coming up on Air Force retirement in about 3 yrs Im trying to get all my ducks lined up. Currently I have my Associates Degree in… -
Re: S+ Boot Camp
Hi - I have taken two bootcamps - one for my PMP certification and the second for the Security+ certification. I took both bootcamps through a company called Training Camp, but did lots of research on others in the industry. Basically, for me, it came down to location and not wanting to travel too far... but that's neither… -
Re: Passed CCSP last week - Just before the content change!
I just sat for the CCSP today and failed it. I can say that I read the Official CBK, Official Cert Guide and went through the Official Practice Test book. I was getting like 80%+ on the end of chapter quizzes and the practice tests but when I sat for the exam, more than 70% of it wasn't even mentioned in any of those… -
Re: ICND 1 / CCNA Exam - How to pass?
Yeah, here's the link to our learning paths, but it looks like it's locked behind the free trial page, so you'll have to create an account in order to view it. I'll whip up a list of all of our learning paths, and each learning path has anywhere from a handful to a couple dozen courses. We're still working on adding a… -
Re: What cert would you recommend & why ?
Depending on your location, you may not need any certs at all to continue with Data center/server archetecture. You have plenty of experience and that will get you the job. Some employers, like the government require that you have certain certs and most of those will give you a 6 month period to gain the required certs… -
Re: ISACA exams today 6/14 - CISA, CRISC, CISM, etc.
Congrats to those who passed. I found out this Tuesday by email that I didn't pass with a score of 431, the first two domains I got over 500 the last 3 the 340 to 350 range. The test was very nebulous and subjective out of the 200 questions at least 25% were carelessly crafted, the creator(s) of those questions were the… -
Re: How much do you study per night/week
I try to take a test 30 to 60 days from the first day I study. After that, you will forget things. From my A+ and Network+ test, I studied probably a total of 15 hours before I took the test. I took the tests when I had five years experience, so no reason for me to study all night during the week. Now.. CCNA. Have fun! I… -
Re: Hobbyist thinking about getting a MS cert
Dude, you have an amazing background, much better than most in your situation! I think though you have probably skipped some fundamentals that are important. First snag your MCDST, this should be a very easy task with your background, but I am sure you will learn a thing or two. Goes deeper into supporting desktops, but… -
Re: Value of CCNA in market
Believe it or not, I've been working on my NA off and on now for 6 years. Had a couple of stabs at the 640-607 and 640-801 exams but failed. The materials I used were not up to date. I put the stuff down until Cisco introduced the 2 exam approach so ordered new books, invested in a simple home lab and managed to pass the… -
Re: studied for months and still fear I will fail...advice
Thanks for your support! I think I'm well prepared already. Always had the "I have to know 'everything' " feeling regarding standardized exams. Of course, I know this isn't true. Usually, things work out for the best if you've prepared...and I have. Anyway, in the overall scheme of life what's the worst that can happen?…
