Re: Advice on career path
Hello and welcome to the TE forums. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by taking the CISA would be step down. Perhaps you could elaborate. Anyways - I think that since you already have experience dealing with PCI and PHI DSS, getting the CISSP seems like a nice challenge. The CISSP would be a nice broad set of topics which… -
Re: What Certs to add to CISSP
geek4god, you already have the Security+, right? There is a very large gap between the Security+ and CISSP certs and not many mid-level InfoSec certs to fill it. The SSCP, GSEC, and CEH are good examples of InfoSec certs that are in that range that are also on the 8570.01 list. Of those, the SSCP is the best one to prep… -
Re: Degree Program(InfoSec/PenTesting) - Advice Please
Remember that you also have to pay AMF's and apply CPE's /CE's to those certs. In the long run you may you may pay a grest deal of time and money to maintain those credentials. I would reccomend the following certs. You must take the exams to recertify for the Cisco certs. Once you specialize you can add as you wish.… -
Re: Forensic certifications closest to OSCP level of learning
I'm coming a bit late, but still wanted to agree with this post. You should go for GCFE|A or GNFA for the network part. For the rest the only cert which I think would match is the future CSX-Specialist (Respond) https://cybersecurity.isaca.org/csx-careers As i had the chance to test the lab environment for the… -
Re: SANS Certification compare with ISC2 and ISACA
All of their offerings (well, many of them) will have some tie in with the DoD requirements so they are worth quite a bit considering they are required for you to hold the position. Of the three cert orgs you mention , I think GIAC stuff is the most practical but least known. By the way, SANS doesn't offer the… -
Re: CCNA heading into Security+
I passed 401 late last year. I read a 301 study guide which came also with some practice tests. But I think I probably relied more on other security knowledge I had acquired through years of work and reading. More recently, I've found two books to be quite good for covering Info Sec in the broad sense: Information Security… -
Re: Security Certification Roadmap
A couple of others to squeeze into the specialisations: Incident handling ECIH, GCIH Malware analysis [sort of related to forensics, like a subspecialisation] GREM, OSCE Secure programming, code auditing GSSP-NET, GSSP-JAVA, there's also at least one for PHP and Microsoft also has documentations governance and compliance… -
