Novice question on ASA 5505
Hey CCSPs, I have my ASA5505 at home and I am going to put a cisco border router ahead of it and then create my DMZ SL-50 and then SL-100 for internal LAN and of course SL-0 outside. I am not sure about this but I might have it. Okay. A security level 0 cannot breach a security level 50 unless a static NAT mapping is setup… -

Holler atcha boy! Coming up on Monday! Unlike my last interview at Cisco Systems which was 4 interviews over the course of a week, this will be 3 separate interviews over the course of 2 hours. It's an 18 mos contract position for a Cisco Network Engineer/Analyst. They've picked 3 candidates to interview (me being one of… -
Re: Penetration testing Path
Pen testing is the sector of IT security that I have decided to work towards as well. Yes, there is always paperwork, but I enjoy finding loopholes and flaws and get personal satisfaction out helping people. I have 4.5 years of IT experience: 2 years managing the IT at a small doctor's office and then 2 (horrible) years… -
Re: Lower-level or higher-level certs to start out with?
Well, Mr. Jeremy, I haven't been married long, no. We have our disagreements, but so far, no fights. My position is actually more theoretical than practical. Like a "what if" scenario. Would it be more of an advantage for a guy who *already* has a CCNA to get another low-level cert in something like CCDA, or Unix or SQL or… -

Maintaining Various Certifications (CE's + Fees)
Hello TE, The purpose of this thread is to have a discussion about maintaining various certifications such as CE's and yearly membership fees. I have been so focused on what cert to get next... that I completely forgot about the long-term "consequences" of maintaining these certifications in terms of TIME to obtain CE's… -

Just Passed with 804.
Wow guys this is a difficult exam mostly b/c of the broad aspect Comptia uses to ask the questions. There isn't a whole lot of detail in them. You really need to know what you are answering. Deducing an answer is a definite strategy again b/c of the broad question format. It makes sense though. How many of you are… -
Re: The Future of hot IT Jobs?
Cable God, I told the cisco rep I was a CCNA and I wanted to get my CCSP and that I have been seeing a shift in people moving to checkpoint. IMHO checkpoint is beating out ASA and its ASDM etc..I told him I loved the ASA command line but many people don't like that and if you want to be great you need to listen to those… -
Re: Cisco Unity Support Specialist
They used to require the MCSE:Messaging as a prerequsite -- but I think they dropped it last year (or the year before) since that was an awfully big prerequisite. I've got the security specialist certifications and voice specialist certification I earned while doing the CCSP and CCVP. I've managed to keep them since I'm…
