Re: CISSP vs PMP
Comment by justdavey · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› Project Management CertificationsI have to agree with some of what @shoey said. My road was as follows: I did the previous version of PMP in 2015. Procrastinated to the last weekend I was eligible on the PMI site to do the exam, but really studied in the last 3 months before at a few pages out of Rita a day and some practice exam questions, then really… -
Re: OSCP for Carrier Growth: Need Advice
It's fairly easy, you've already got everything you'd need; an internet connection. Do your research on the OSCP, read every possible blogs, certification stories and so on. I did it this way, read all i could, setup up my OSCP environment and registered for PWK at OffSec once i've felt confident with my environment as… -
Re: How much are you paying to maintain your certification status?
I haven't held enough certs that require maintenance for this to be an issue yet. If I do keep the CompTIA ones, I'll probably just be maintaining CASP. The Linux+ and Storage+ won't expire. Probably between the Cisco, MS, VMware and other certs, I'll have more than enough credits. LPIC does expire at 5 years. Probably if… -
Trying Harder, an OSCP Journey
As I'm finishing up my PMP prep and getting ready to take the exam, I'd decided I was done with certs. Definitely any cert where you need to read and take a multi-choice exam for sure, but was thinking certs in general. Well last week my manager shocked me and told me he resigned, which really sucks for me. Aside from him… -
DOD Microsoft Certification Requirements??
All, Is there a counterpart for DOD Microsoft Certifications similar to the one that exists in the DOD IA world like this the below....can't posts links yet since I am too new. Any quick help would be appreciated as I am being forced into taking the CISSP which is something I don't want to do. I'd rather make an argument… -
Ordered ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer home-study course
Hi! I sat-and-passed the CISSP in December 2014 and the CISA in December 2015 (top 20%) and then thought, what to do next? I passed both on the first go so my ego was tickled enough to make me think I can pass certification exams with little woe. Of course I might crash-and-burn and come unstuck, but while I'm seemingly… -
Another CCSP passed story
Hi guys, I just passed my CCSP exam this morning and I thought I would share a bit about my experience. Like others have said before me, knownlege from CISSP helped me create a great foundation for this exam. Also, as I previously prepared for CISA and CISM in June, I felt quite confident answering questions related to… -
Newbie seeking security advice
I've gone through some of the posts here and and learned a lot from the advice given to them. But I feel like my case is unique. I'm Victor from Africa. Been on and off various networking jobs. Have Indepth knowledge in Cisco CCNA & CCNP and Checkpoint CCSA. Also recently started software dev (don't know how this would fit… -
Re: Which certs would you get if they were free and you had time...
You mentioned the 5K cap. Seriously, if I had additional free time, I would work at ISACA, minimally, the CISM. I'd probably attempt a December testing. Heck, for 5K, I could purchase an in-seat bootcamp, but that's months (if not years) down the road at this point. If money was no object, I really wouldn't need any… -
Re: Sugestion for career choice
Welcome to TE, pgchelsea. If you're focused specifically on security, be prepared for what is called a "dynamic" career. That is to say, like most careers in IT, that you are committing to a life long career of learning. Hope you're ready? :) Take the following feedback for what it's worth, and take heart in knowing that…
