Re: Who's going to Narbik's CCIE RS bootcamp on Sept 24-28, Burbank CA?
I personally don't know any CCIE, so I can't speak on salary, but if it's $175 then the investment you're making is even better. As far as your second statement, I hope to get my CCNP Security after I get my BS from WGU. I have the CISSP, Sec+, CEH, CASP certs. I'd love to add CISM to that since the investment is a lot… -
Re: From "Senior Analyst" To "Manager"
yeah catch 22, you need management experience to get to management, can't get to management without it the same challenge we faced entering the market Honestly, network, establish relationships with your current employer and make it known that you're interested in team lead / management roles. It is challenging and it is… -
Re: MBA IT Management and PMP, what now?
There are actually many folks in TE who are in management - myself included. I have never seen any certifications for IT management. The closest if the CISM for Infosec managers and CIPM for Privacy managers. Just my personal belief and others may have a different opinion but I have never seen any value when it comes to IT… -
Re: Is there such thing as too many certifications?
I started working on LPI but lost interest. I'll probably go back to do it next year. I'm working through GWAPT now. I don't have high hopes of passing the exam since I didnt put much effort to it. But I found the material to be interesting. Most likely I will work on CIPP or CRISC next since its actually relevant to my… -
Re: CISSP experience q,
Having a 4-year degree, or any one of several specific IT certifications (such as Security+), will allow you to need only four years of profession InfoSec work experience to qualify for full CISSP certification. Although you might already have a certification from the (ISC)2 and be a member in good standing, you cannot… -
Re: Who can do ITIL?
Comment by TechGuy215 · · Home› Certification Preparation› Other Certifications› ITIL CertificationsYour question would be better posed as, "Can I get an IT position that is built-on/focused on using the ITIL framework with no IT exposure?" ITIL isn't a job or profession, ITIL is a framework for IT service management. Basically, any IT related profession can be related to ITIL, be it Tier 1 HD all the way up to a CISM.… -
Re: Does you company invest in training for you?
My company provides for tuition reimbursement for up to $5,200.00 per year for approved courses, which must be directly related to my current job or long-term career development. (They agreed to pay for WGU MS ISA first semester). They will also reimburse for certifications - if you pass the exam - and study materials (so… -
Re: How many is to many?
I think as we move forward and the industry evolves so will the certificates. I think some will lose their value, some will evolve and new ones will come out that will replace the old ones. Personally, i'll focus on what gives me knowledge and what benefits my career even i get CPE credits from them then that's a bonus.… -
Re: Have you ever gone back?
I feel the same way about the CCNA RS/S. It would have been helpful in a far past job, as well as a job I had 2014-2016 as a Sr Security Engineer. So I've really wanted the CCNA RS for over a decade now. It has ZERO use for me currently, but I still want it so bad. I think after my run of certs related to my current job… -
Re: IT Certification for non-IT background: Advice Needed
Look for ITIL, CMMI or Lean Six Sigma. Most of the certifications require at least 2 years to qualify. You would be better off taking some that do not expire or do not require actual work experience. You can always study for them though, thats a different story, if the knowledge itself interested you then you can look the…
