Re: Geek Squad
Honestly with CISSP,CEH and the experience that you have in security, I think you could do better than geeksquad. Finding an IT job at your level that's only part time could prove difficult but have you ever considered doing contract field tech work? You could pick and choose what assignments you'd be available for to work… -
Re: Seeking Advice and Knowledge for the future
LOL, WOW I'm not planning on getting married any time soon, but hopefully later down the road it will happen. I'm only 21 years old, so I want to get out of school and get into a good job, plus I need to find the right girl too. Sorry, that was rude of me. I don't know your story and you don't know my story. I don't know… -
Re: Should I stay or Should I Go??
I'm currently facing the same kind of job. I work as a factory support agent. Lots of time to study too, and it's either that busy that you have no time at all or there's really nothing to do for hours, and the pay isn't bad either. It's my first job (for 6 months now) and I suggest you do the same like me: certify as much… -
Re: General Thoughts About CASP...
I think it's somewhere in the middle, but then so is CISSP. And it is a challenging exam, and covers a lot of ground in reasonable depth. I think the challenge for CISSP's when they do the CASP is that it is a lot more hands on and practical. Probably the Practitioner in the name hints at that. You need to know security… -
Re: Which certification now?
If you are interested in Network Security, consider getting the CCNA: R&S and Security. They will provide you with a foundation on networks and firewalls that, if understood well, will help you conceptualize how to prevent end point attacks since you will understand the pathway that attacks use. Maybe even consider looking… -
Re: Cyber Security / Ethical Hacking Questions
- Understood that seems to be understandable, but which to focus on the side? C++, Python, both? - Ah understood so Kali is your arsenal not from which you work on everyday. - Hmm so Im assuming it would be up to me to learn the ins and outs of Linux.I found they actually have a class called CIS255 Operating Systems.… -
Re: Have you found your niche in IT?
I really enjoy writing automation scripts using Powershell and VBScript as a Systems Engineer. Gosh I am good at it too, but unfortunately my boss moved me to working on tickets since we started using Citrix Provisioning server to provide virtual desktops and the tickets are unbearable. She says it temp, but I'm two… -
Re: Networking vs Cybersecurity
Thanks everyone for the excellent responses! I am actually taking a InfoSec class right now that seems to be along the lines of the CISSP exam...and I honestly find it incredibly boring. Compliance and blah blah... But the reason that I am not ditching InfoSec now is because the CISSP seems to be very broad, and differs… -
Recommended Certifications
Hey guys so I'm currently in my masters studying data analytics and graduated from my undergrad in Computer Forensics and Cyber Security. After I graduated, Covid messed some things up and the job market definitely took a hit (UK summer time) so I told myself instead of waiting around to see if I could find a job I would… -
Re: Passing Sec+ Tomorrow
I can't decide.... How much would adding A+ affect my marketability when I start searching for jobs in late Nov. or early Dec.(main reason I'm getting some certs now)? I'm looking to get into something related to Network Security if possible (hence net+ and sec+). From what I understand, A+ is typically one of the more…
